all 10 of those cars are very strong players in their respective classes. it's a solid list that has something for every budget.

best of all, all of those cars are FUN TO DRIVE! clearly a list for enthusiasts.

(one ding: even though the WRX is fast, it's scary ugly)

and no surprise that the 3-series topped the list of driver's cars.

it performs supremely well and does nearly everything else well too...style, comfort, practicality, mulitple versions, reasonable price, etc. 120,000+ units a year in the US alone.

yeah good list.

I dont know about the Mazda 3speed tho.
Could have been the GTi :p

I testdrove it and its toomuch power for a frontwheel.
Specially when ur over 3500 and the turbo kicks in! insane!. but to feel that you have to be on a highway and 2 sec after the 3rd gear 3500rev you are doing 90mph already. so you cannot really enjoy it.

I think the new Gti's TFSI engine with max torque at low reves is ideal.

I don't know, the MazdaSPEED3 has come in first place in every comparison test I've seen it in, including several that included the VW. Pretty much every test has said it's the best bang for your buck little performance car out there. I'd say it deserves its spot on the list.

It has lost every single test I've read, exactly because it had too much power for it's own good... 260 hp in a FWD car is just too much... It's big brother, the Mazda 6 MPS( MazdaSPEED6?!) fares way better because of its AWD... They should've done that to the 3 aswell...

which two should have made it? I could maybe see the new LS if any large cars made the list, but I can't think of any Lexus that would deserve to be the second one. And since the poll is obviously skewed towards smaller cars, I can't think of any Lexuses period that would deserve inclusion.

this was a list of DRIVER's cars.
no surprise that enthusiasts (the ones polled in this survey) don't mention lexus.
it wasn't about quality or luxury or reliability.

the people who actually BUY many of those cars are older. and the cars on that list are many of the ideal DRIVER'S cars for the middle-aged people who buy them.

and thanks for the personal attacks.

Sorry but, there must have been some criteria basing the choices on practicality and price. If this was not the case, why are there no Ferraris on the list?

Great list! Definitely made by someone who likes driving!

But like XeroK00L said, the demographic is rather young people...

There isn't a single car on the that list I would even consider buying...

I remember you saying you were 38 or so... at 38, you wouldn't consider an RS4 or 911? That's sad.

They aren't comparing them directly.

However, it is interesting that they included all of the 3 series, but narrowed the A4 down to the RS4.

What exactly does that say? That big cars doesn't handle as good as a compact sedan or a coupé? There isn't any Mercedes or Lexus on the list at all... And the Only Audi is the very expensive RS4 (not even the A4 as a whole, only the RS4)... What a stupid post...

It's a pretty good list, but some of them I'd get rid of. I don't think the Mazda3 should be on there- it's a good car, but it's not THAT good. The RS4 should be higher on the list (maybe #6, perhaps), and switch the 911 to #1, the 3 Series to #2 and the Vette to #3 or 4.

These dinky little sporty cars are not a practical solution for me. I'd rather have a large overpowered sedan.

I would say no to the Subaru, Cayman, Infiniti and the Mazda 3.
Replace with the Legacy (or perhaps a 130i), Boxster/TT, IS and the Civic Type-R (European version).
Honestly I think the IS is a better car than the G35, I can't stand the Cayman, the Impreza is just bad and the Mazda is so over-powerful yet bland.

This is a "best" cars list, and the Impreza and Mazda3 have too many shortcomings IMO.

I think (without ever having driven one) that from a performance and handling point of view, the G35 is better... But I can't say for sure... But I do know that the IS250 (no 350 in europe, that might have a better suspension) isn't anywhere near the 3-series in my experience... I think they might use the US-suspension setup in the euro IS... What I've heard, the G35 handles very well (and it is considerably cheaper).

The G has a 5 speed auto and a weird boot, it's a bit tacky.
The title says "best cars", if it said "best sports biased" cars, then the G goes in.

I don't like this list at all. It should be called "10 Best SPORTS SEDANS / CARS", but "best cars"? For most people, most of these cars are too sporty and too expensive and don't aim at being the best in overallness.

Yay... No Mercedes on the list... Yay... No french cars on the list at all!

Wonder why Lexus isn't on the list... Maybe because they build comfortable luxury cars with ride comfort as the main objective, not performance! moron!

No... The french build some damn good econo boxes... And then the Citroen C6... But they haven't built a proper performance car since the Peugeot 306 GTI Premium... They've tried with the Citroen VTS models but they are pretty bad, and Peugeot performance cars are all a joke! The one good thing about the 207 GTI is the engine... And that comes directly from BMW...

The french shouldn't get credit for something they aren't good at!

HAHAHAHA...You obviously haven't driven the Clio RenaultSport?! That is one seriously neurotic car! It makes the Civic Type-R seem like a torque monster and a comfortable cruiser... But nice try! They did make the Megane 225... But that wasn't that fortunate anyway... And then there was the Clio V6 which was trying to kill anything who came within 10 meters (but it looked bloody cool though) When it comes to performance, Renault and the other french makers are only shadows of what they used to be! But they still rule when it comes to... Hmm... Special designs!

And I wasn't trying to defend Toyota... I was just trying to point out how big an idiot you are... The Supra was very much a performance car (you calling it street trash doesn't change that)... It wasn't a very fortunate design, but neither are some of the cars on that list (the G35 looks weird and the MX5 is so girly)... I didn't initiate a pointless attack on a single car maker... YOU DID... Don't try to make it sound like it was my point afterwards... Just makes you sound that much more stupid! Lots of manufacturers don't do performance, but you, YOU, chose to point out one single brand, which btw. is known for very high quality comfortable luxury cars... I wonder why some of the die hards haven't said that the imaginary GT-F or the IS-F should be one the list, but they haven't... Thereby making your stupid and unjustyfied remark that much more pathetic and moronic!
