As an update to earlier reports concerning the Tata Nano’s future presence in the States, Ratan Tata has now set his own timetable for the car and has marked the year 2011 as the year when the Nano will hit US shores. Tata’s schedule is reminiscent of its intention to offer the inexpensive and no-hassles car in Europe, of course, after it has revised the car to pass EU crash and emissions regulations.

Tata may also equip the car with some creature comforts. The same revisions are expected for the US-bound Nano, and the Indian carmaker estimates that they can do this in two year’s time. There also some expectations that the carmaker substitute the quite small rear-mounted 0.6-liter two-pot unit with something of more potent configuration.
