Though I just wrapped up a story on the announcement of the price of the new Nissan GT-R Track Edition for 2014, I think it's critical to know that's not the end of the GT-R. There's no question since it's debut it's arguably one of the best performance cars ever.

It's definitely the best bang for the buck.

But it could get even more compelling. That's because NISMO, which is known to do some rather nice tuning work to cars like the 370Z and Juke is getting involved. A NISMO GT-R is coming.

An educated guess would wager that will mean more power, a stiffer ride and possibly going on a diet. Of course for any performance machine these are the key ingredients to a better driver's car. And if anyone knows how to make a vehicle incrementally better, it's the NISMO division.

Let's see what they come up with...


...The fastest Nissan GT-R yet, the GT-R Nismo, will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.

Testing of the prototype is already underway, and Nissan executive vice president and global boss of product planning Andy Palmer has already driven it.

And while reluctant to go into detail about what is on offer, Palmer told Auto Express: “It’s bloody quick. It will be the fastest GT-R ever..."
