Vehicles With Highest Average Consumer Rating Honored

Consumers rate vehicles in eight different categories: performance, comfort, fuel economy, fun to drive, interior design, exterior design, build quality and reliability. All 2008 vehicle models that received the required minimum number of consumer ratings as of April 30, 2008 were eligible.

“These awards are made possible by consumers who submit reviews on new or used vehicles they own,” said Karl Brauer, Editor in Chief of Edmunds.com. “They are the result of real-world driving and ownership impressions”

Among manufacturers, Audi led the pack, winning four awards, while Toyota, Lexus and Chevrolet tied for second place, each winning two awards.

Edmunds.com, announced the winners of the first Consumers’ Top Rated Vehicle Awards.

...and a "high end" Avalon. WTF does that mean?

You are dilusional, man. You are one of the most irritationg posters on this site. Go pick up a Toyota brochure for your automotive news/entertainment.

Agent001, you seem to hate edmunds, I wonder why that is?

This list is not what I expected. There are some cars there that I did not expect to see even in the top five for their class but then again there are some cars listed that are exactly what I expected. Over all I can't say that I disagree with it.

The list says that it is the "result of real-world driving and ownership impressions” and since I have not owned most of those cars I cannot debate their results. For the cars that I have driven that are on he list they sure do deserve it.

Agent001,

Me too. You should not have any ads on your site. That would make yourself more creditable. But then again, you would have no money to run this site.

It's ONE thing to take ads but entirely another when you give positive reviews and passes to cars you've never driven...

Plus I HATE inaccurate consumer info and their TMV pricing is so unrealistic it's a joke.

What made your "eyes pop out of your head?" The only bad choices on this list are the Patriot, MKX and R-Class.

*cough* Smart Fortwo *cough*
You could get many convertibles for under $35,000. Miata, Sky, Wrangler, Mustang, Cooper, G6, Eclipse, Eos, Solara, Sebring, Beetle and more. I would gladly buy any one of the vehicles I mentioned over a Smart Fortwo. Pretty much in that order too.

Hm. Interesting choices. I would've picked:

Large Truck Toyota Land Cruiser
Minivan/Van Honda Odyssey
Coupe Over $45,000 Audi R8
Convertible Under $35,000 BMW 128i (not available in poll?)
Sedan Over $45,000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
SUV $35K-$45K Acura MDX
SUV Under $25,000 Jeep Wrangler (fun)
Sedan $15K-$25K Nissan Altima or Chevy Malibu

Another stupid opinion poll out today. Who cares what people think. It's usless information. Just give me data and hard facts. I'll make my own decisions on what's quality and value.

Many consider these polls as the "Hard Facts"

SpicyMikeySpicyMikey - 5/28/2008 4:20:43 PM
+6 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
and of course they'd be wrong. Hard facts are Days In Shop, or HP per Liter, etc.

Opinion polls are important for the manufacturer to consider. But it means nothing to me as a consumer. Unless of course I care what others think, which I don't

A pretty logical list when you consider that most people aren't multi-millionaires nor are they concerned with what dudes on an automotive message board think.

I think it's both. Two sides of the same coin. Can't be successful without doing both well. BMW does both well and is on top. That's one of the few entries in that survey that I agree with. However, Honda/Acura (for example) build good quality cars but forget about image most of the time. They're not on the list.

SpicyMikeySpicyMikey - 5/28/2008 5:56:04 PM
+2 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
oh man, I got this list mushed up with the other stupid survey from earlier today. BMW isn't even on this list anywhere! That earlier one at least had BMW on top for "initial quality". This list is even more ridiculous. Convertable under $35k Smart ForTwo! WTF?

ChicaneShooterChicaneShooter - 5/29/2008 2:19:22 AM

i'd vote the smartfortwo as the best TOY car.

for a REAL convertible, there are MANY FAR BETTER choices.

Why? Because of its around-view camera or because of its chrome-ringed taillamps? Because of the "beige bling" package that it comes with? Because of its massive, inefficient engine? Because of its soft, slippery seats? Because of its archaic third row that doesn't fold into the floor? Because of its $80,000 pricetag?

"result of real-world driving and ownership impressions”

This is a accurate list, ownership satisfaction should be the measuring stick above all other when purchasing a new car, hence no BMWs on this list.
