The Porsche 911 is a sports car icon. No matter what people want to say about it, the vehicle has made a helluva place in automotive history and we at AutoSpies tend to adore them.

Since the launch of the 991 911, we've been smitten. So much so, in fact, our very own 001 put one in his garage. But as with all things automotive, the time has come for a series of updates.

As expected with previous generations like the 993, 996 and 997, the vehicles will be enhanced a bit via the headlight and taillight design. In addition, some small visual changes will happen with the front/read valences and the Carrera and Carrera S' exhausts will move to the center.

But as has been reported for about six or so months, all of the 911s that aren't GT models will now benefit from turbocharged flat six motors. This means there will be a slight power bump as well as increased efficiency. According to one of the buff books, power will increase on base 911s to 370 horsepower and 420 horsepower on the S models.

Of course there will be a flurry of offerings ranging from rear-wheel drive to all-wheel drive to Targa models to drop tops.

...In the interest of efficiency and to fall into a more favorable tax bracket in China, Porsche has downsized the Carrera’s 3.4-liter engine and the 3.8-liter unit in the Carrera S to 3.0 liters. Thanks to turbocharging, however, output grows from 350 to 370 horsepower, and from 400 to 420 horsepower (Carrera and Carrera S, respectively). Maximum torque rises to 369 lb-ft, available from 1700 rpm...Fuel economy in the notoriously optimistic European cycle increases to 33.6 mpg; it was previously rated at 29.4 mpg in the standard Carrera...
