And I alomost got a Toyota Prius. I just can't see myself driving nothing that hideous. It has to at least get 300mpg to get in these pockets for something that ugly..

3km is about 1.86 miles. Maybe that's why many Europeans ride bikes. If you want a car that gets good real world mileage, including trips on the highway, you need a diesel.

2007 World Green Car winner: Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec (diesel)

2008 World Green Car winner: BMW 118d (diesel)

why were the BMW diesels not compared? Most of the cars in the comparison are diesels and Hybrids.

abcd that is not true. You know that. Every diesel car is different in regards to technology. If that is your arguement, then why the multiple hybrids and not use just one as an example? Did you not foget that the 118d won the green award for 2008?

do you really think that there great differeces in diesel technology . the every diesel engines are very similar . the technology that makes more differences are other aspects e.g. effecient dynamics in bmw with incorporate e.g. regenerative braking . SCR(bluetec, bluemotion) would help diesels be little more economy and much "cleaner" . volkswagen TDI with is in this test(without bluemotion) was third in WCOTY . TDI engines are very probably in the same level of technology as bmw diesel engines . in term of hybrids:
there are two main groups : with powerful eletric engines(toyota)-more complicated and heavier and with weak electric engines(honda)-not very complicated with electric motor in place of engine flywheel.

Most German magazines view anything other than German makes with skepticism.

The British and US magazines must feel the same way because German cars still win 90% of their comparos.

Not on the race track they don't.

"That gave Porsche a 1-2-3 sweep of the podium."

Porsche wins 12 Hours of Sebring
Associated Press

Updated: March 16, 2008, 2:00 AM EST

Porsche ended a 20-year drought at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday, ending Audi's eight-year overall winning streak with a surprising victory in the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Driving the Roger Penske-owned Porsche RS Spyder, Romain Dumas of France took the checkered flag 12.9 seconds ahead of the Acura ARX-01B of Adrian Fernandez and Luis Diaz, both of Mexico. However, the second-place Acura was later excluded from the results after failing the stall test during postrace inspection.

That gave Porsche a 1-2-3 sweep of the podium.

24 Hours of Le Mans

"Porsche is the most successful manufacturer in the history of Le Mans, winning its class more than 50 percent of the time with a combination of LMP1 prototypes and production-based GT2 class racer cars."

"Porsche has scored 16 overall wins at Le Mans..."

"Additionally, Porsche works drivers have earned dozens of class victories in GT2 class, most recently Marc Lieb and Mike Rockenfeller together with privateer Leo Hindery in 2005, **the 7th consecutive class victory for the Porsche GT3 R/RS/RSR family**.

"In **2007 the new Porsche GT3 RSR (Type 997) continued that success. With a six-lap advantage over the second-placed Ferrari, the French customer team IMSA Performance won the GT2 class."

Agent 009 speaks the truth. Which is what makes this article so intriguing. They just could not find a way this time to make the Prius lose. It's a banner day.

Dont think I wont quote you in the future, 009. Thanks for the ammo.

"Great post. You help prove that the only time a German can win a race is when the GT-R is not in it."

Nissan knows enough not to enter a major international race where there are Porsches entered.

Prius and Hummer H2 shouldn't even be in a same sentence for it is completly opposite, one being the most frugal sedan in the world and the other being one of the worst in the world. Get your head out of your ass, stoolchecker.

I'm sorry, but Autobilde to me is just a rag.

Every car in this article performed like crap. They must've loaded them all with cement and floored it for 3km.
The Prius can more than easily go 3km on electric power and in typical city driving, it won't be going past 40km/h so the gas engine should never even run.

I wonder why they didn't test the trunk sizes in this comparison. The trunk is what determines how well a car handles and how great the fuel efficiency is. Atleast it is whenever a Lexus hybrid beats a German diesel in a comparo.
