The WORST vehicles available today-The 2005 AutoSpies.com BLACK LIST
2005 AutoSpies.com BLACK LIST

Just like Mr. Blackwell's 'Worst dressed list' the Spies compile their version of the duds out there in the automotive marketplace.

The cars do not necessarily have to be BAD from a mechanical standpoint although some are.

We judge these infamous losers by a number of factors...design, market acceptance, concept and street vibe.

It is REALLY, REALLY hard to make this list.

But it is not a list, you want to be on!

And this year's winners (i mean loser's) are...ranked from worst to awful

10. Buick Lucerne-Kissing your sister is a 'sizzling' experience compared to this exercise in boredom.
9. Jeep Cherokee- After seeing all those gorgeous groundbreaking concepts at the auto shows teasing us with their design expertise, HOW could they have decided on this, as the final design? The front end could be one of the worst in the business! Bring on the Nitro and BLOW this thing up!
8. Ford Five Hundred- Yuck! Let’s hope it only lasts 500 days on the market!
7. Mitsubishi Galant- The WORST car I’ve ever test driven…more flex than Suzanne Sommer's thigh-master
6. Chevy Impala- Back to the drawing board for the hundredth time! Could it have LESS personality? What an insult to previous proud Impala designs.
5. Cadillac XLR- Or should we call it the Allante II? This thing is deadsville in the marketplace. Looks like a door stop with dual nightlights on it!
4. Acura RL- Feels like the whole car's drive system has been shot with Novocaine. The most over priced car on the mainstream market.
3. Honda Ridgeline- With national leases already at $199 per month, this thing (maybe they should have called it, the Honda THING) is sinking fast! Thank GOD!
2. Hummer H3- The Hummer thing is just SOOOOO over. And we predict there is no comeback in sight. Even Steve Jobs couldn’t figure out how to bring this brand back! Sorry Liz...
1. Jeep Commander- Whatever over paid slacker at DCX green lighted this piece of trash, should be removed from his or her command! The only thing missing is the ‘Body designed by YUGO’ on the side panel.

Do you agree with us?

What would be on your list?

Can't wait to see the comments in our blogs below!

#1 in reliability: (1)Toyota/Lexus, (2)Nissan/Infiniti (3)Honda/Acura.
#1 in "driver" satisfaction: BMW, Audi, Mercedes.
#1 in Bang for the Buck: GM(Corvette), Ford(Mustang GT), Chrysler(300C)
The are endearing qualities in many cars. Those who value reliability over everything else will lean towards the Japanese brands. Those who love being "at one" with their cars will lean towards the Germans. Those who love a bargain will buy American. IMO all the vehicles you listed, outside of the Galant have some sort of appeal to me. The one you are completely wrong on is the Acura RL. Not quite as polished as a Lexus GS or as nimble as a BMW 5 Series but is the total package for luxury, performance, techno wizadry and price.

spend more time in the service department than on the road. They are overpriced, poorly engineered, unreliable and no match for the Japanese Luxury Cars.

Acura and Toyota particularly have left the Germans waaaay behind in quality and substance for what you get for your money.

Having owned German cars and now Japanese cars, I will NEVER go back to European trash.

Your list is a good one with the exception of the Acura RL. Could this be a misprint? I can't imagine how you could put this car in the class of the other nine real duds. Perhaps Acura is not supporting you guys like BMW? Let's be real, the RL is a well engineered vehicle with a lot to offer, yes, at a price that is a bit steep.

As much as I love the new GS430, it only has 300 hp power, while the M45 has 335 hp. They actually did a test back awhile ago, where they test the M45,A6,5 series, Acura RL, GS, and two other car I forget the brand. But anyway M45 come out on top for the 0-60 test and 1/4 mile test, M45 first, Acura was like 3 or 4, Lexus was like 2 or 3,.

But anyway the tester also made of the BMW5 series because it was the slowest in all of them for the 0-60 and 1/4 miles test drive.

Guess what they said about the 5 series, Make All that NOISE But Take You NO Where, it was slowest compare to the other cars in it class.

M45 only lost to Lexus in the interior and styling and that was it. M45 won all ther other category I must admit.

I'm a big Japanese Auto fan, their cars are realible, has style and you get more bang for your money.

My friend bought a brand new Mercedes or Should I said Chrylers..,LOL...... that thing was Piece of Shit, within the first month she has electrical problem, leaking, are kind of shit, she spend more time fix that piece of junk than driving it.

As far as BMW, they has really nice performance, but sooner or later Lexus, Infiniti, Audi or even Honda will take away their crown on performance. Their interior is Super....Ugly...........I mean Ugly, Ugly for a Luxury car. Come on... for $50+ grand and the interior look like that? Even the Kia or Hyundai Look better than that. They need to or spend more time on their interior.

Alot of member here trash talk about Japanese car, well than I have question for you guys/girsl out there.

If you said japanese car are garabe why are they moving forward and taking over the auto industry business? that in Lexus, toyota, Honda, Acura, Infiniti, Nissan? and at the same time European car progress very slow, or more worse some even go backward.

You will excuse me if I don't take your views with any credibility since an organization that considers the "Dub" fad as ligitimate is certainly lacking in good taste.

On this discussion of luxury, I've owned a number of Mercedes, and have seen and driven the recent models. Quite honestly, they are certainly status symbols, but they are not near as luxurious as the Jaguar XJ series, and the Lexus is truthfully better engineered although not quite as much of a status symbol. For my money, I'd go for the Jag. As far as the Acura RL goes, it's an accomplishment that deserves better than the "worst" list, that's quite obvious. There are definately worse vehicles (how about the Chevrolet SSR?)

Hey....the first time ever....I 100% agree about your list. However, you could add more cars to it actually....eg...Lam (Land) Rover....Joker (Jaguar)....Stupid (Subaru).....and of course SU_KER (SAAB).

This is a fun blog. It's funny to see everyone "defend" their cars. What the heck, I'll throw in my 2cents worth...............

The Buick Lucerne: Like kissing your sister? More like making love to your ex. It only takes one test drive to remember why you left in the first place.

Jeep Cherokee: Benz does a low rent G-wagon.

Ford 500: Who is Ford going to sell those things to now that they sold off Hertz?

Galant: Who cares?

Impala: Where was Bob when this thing got the Ok? Looks like the GTO guys designed another rental car! GM car guy tip: Just because the big guy takes a liking to a particular car doesn't mean you have to design the entire line up to look just like it okay!

XLR: So much potential. I just can't get past the "I'm really a Corvette" thing in my head. That should be a good thing but in this case it's not. No real leading edge stuff here in terms of style or technology. It sort of says to me: "Here is how you build a cheap SL" but.....oops we still want $80K for it.

Acura RL: This one of my top 2 "hate it the most" mobiles. Talk about commodity luxury! Yeah I've seen it, I've driven it, smelled it....Hate it!
Absolutely no one, and I mean no one will notice you in it. Not even a valet. They just stare at you like "what do you want me to do with that thing?" look on their face.
High tech AWD? Why not spin the engine around aka: Vision, and use a torsen like your supposed to?

Honda Ridgeline: Finally, someone makes a truck for those who hate trucks! I can probably count on one hand how many people will buy this thing. How many truck buyers want a pu$$y truck? Even the "alternative lifestyle" folks have more testosterone than this....either gender!

Hummer H3: Ok, this one is numero uno on my hate list. I took 14 H2's in trade two months ago. If you didn't bite the bullet when gas was $2.00 a gallon, God help you now. Every time I see one on the road I think "BURIED ALIVE! If you are a Phoenix realtor, and you're still driving one of those things, I hope you starve! The H3 is just as bad. Every time I pull up behind one and see those "high tech" leaf springs sticking out from underneath, I cringe. I wonder how long it will take for all of those soccer/baseball/hockey moms to knock off every one of those fender flares? I'll bet GMAC is probably the only lender in the business that would carry the negative from the H2/Escalade/Tahoe trade in. If you pull up to my dealership wanting to trade a Hummer H3, you'll find me in the bathroom!

Jeep Commander: Another "it seemed like a good idea at the time" project from inventor of the SUV. Face it. There are a lot of "one hit wonders" out there. They even make pretty good money now and then, but I always wonder why the unpublished club singles are a lot more interesting to listen to than the versions you hear on the radio? Does Bob need to come back over and show you guys how to produce a streetable show car again? Fortunately I have not seen ONE of these things on ANY Arizona highway yet. As Martha would say; "That's a good thing".

Your, right! That feels pretty good. I love the smell of Silk Nappa leather in the morning!
