The best Lexus IS-F on the track video ever?
When the Lexus IS-F hit the Laguna Seca Raceway during the California Taste of Lexus Event, there was a deluge of video released by spectators, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING that compares to the following video.

Special thanks to the Passionate Pursuit for the tipoff...

Well a least we know you can turn off the traction control. I wonder how many step that takes?

Looks twitchy in the tights.

The video is more for drama than performance. If anyone think sideways through a corner is the fastest way to get around a track, then they probably can't drive fast themselves.

It does look neat though. But remember a teen in a 66 Dodge Dart could perform basically the same moves on the track

i agree - there's quite a bit of oversteer in the turns
I just watched the tiff needel M3 video and compared to the IS-F, it looks awesome!!!
I will give this though to Lexus - the engine note isn't bad

"you mean like in a bmw M it takes 10 minutes to adjust the settings so you can get the maximum acceleration?"

Only if you're a buldering idiot who can't work a computer, and once you have all your presets saved, you can just press the M button.

Agreed. IS-F totally lacks in control.

Just look how great the M3 does in corners.

If the IS-F comes with 500hp and world class handling, the ability to transform into a robot to protect you and your family, and styling by Pininfarina, people would still find something to bitch about.

but it doesn't have ANY of the things you mentioned.

and since lexus won't give us any stats or let any journalists drive it, nobody can argue that it does anything all that well.

Wow, not nearly as impressed as I expected. It sounds nice and all, but horrible tire squeal and way too much oversteer (driver's fault?). The M3 and RS4 can make anyone feel like a pro behind the wheel- one can only hope that the same is true for this car.

Lexus could put a turd out there and you'd still have Toyota/Lexus fans thinking it was the best thing since sliced bread. Look at the posts in previous articles. It wouldn't matter how it actually drives. It has a L badge on it, so we get to hear how great it is though the press has not driven it.

I think what you are sensing is insecurity on the part of L fans (based on their over-the-top statements [unprovoked]) and I doubt that people who love driving will stop critiquing a car's "fun factor". I think it fair discussion.

All BMWs ever made are tested on the Nürburgring. Laguna Seca is a difficult track but not nearly as complex as the Nürburgring...

By the sound of the engine this baby got to have at least 450hp or more. The engine sounded louder than both the BMW M3 and the Audi RS4.

Um.

You do know that that has nothing to do with the amount of power, right?

I hope you do.

Have you ever driven an E90 M3 or B7 RS4? Or IS-F? Because nothing can be said from you about any of these cars until you drive any of them. I have driven the RS4 and it's unbelievable. I will drive the M3 when it comes out, and probably the IS-F.

Sounded louder = more power???

Is that why Ricers put loud exhausts on, they think that is true?

I thought they put those exhausts on because they were going after that classic "scooter with an exhaust leak" sound.

Will they just release the specs already, so we can finally see what Lexus has come up with. We can't say how well it will handle until the press are allowed to get their hands on it.

How many articles have we actually had about this car on autospies? We still don't actually know all that much about it.

Looks slow and unbalanced but maybe this is the driver. I was surprised it was spinning out at the speed it was going. This must have been intentional by the driver or he is really poor at driving. If this is not the case then the car is a very poor execution of a performance sedan.

If this video is for marketing/drama then they are obviously marketing this car to people who don't like to race cars and are interested in overpowered suppositories.

Why is this article on Autospies again since it was out ( and fresh news) in august....
Be the way, one cannot say fast/slow, tight/loose , that many Hp or anything compare to RS4 and M3... it's not even out yet... no test side by side ghas been made... No Nürburgring lap times has been done. So till then, can someone put an RS4 doing burnout (a M3 would do has well). :-)

That childish performance at Laguna Seca will set back marketing the IS-F for 5 years. What a ridiculous attempt at showing off the car's potential. This may indicate it has more "show" instead of "go". They should have had it racing an E46 M3 CSL to display it's handling prowess. Now I'm not sure the car will even be able to compete.

Lexus, please keep the teenaged test drives home.

Burnouts? average to bad powerslides? childish behaviour on a track? These are all things Americans like to do. It surprises me they didn't include a 1/4 mile drag race. Don't get me wrong I love doing all those thing, but that's because deep inside I'm am still a child.

On to the car then, sounds nice (what V8 doesn't?) but not unique like the RS4 or C63 and I'm sure it goes like stink too. But the handling on the track looked unimpressive to me. Seriously I've been in a M5 Ring-taxi (with Sabine) with 3 people exluding the driver and the car showed minimal understeer and zero body roll.

^^^So wrong on so many levels. Tiff was doing the same stuff with the M. Funny how when somebody does this in a M3, it is cool, when it's done in a Lexus it is not cool. People say Lexus' are not supposed to be like this or that they could not produce a car like this...Now they are mad when they do. I gues the same people are really the ones who have bought into the Lexus marketing machine for the past 18 years

Two, if you say that 5 liter engine doesn't sound unique--get your ears check...
