I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

The hybrid future of Jaguar and Land Rover
According to AutoCar, the UK will see hybrid Jaguar and Land Rover models within the next 5 years. Engineers are messing around with fuel-saving technologies and two new engines that will be launched next year.

A new version of the 2.7 liter V6 diesel used today will be upgraded to a 3.0 liter V6 diesel and will be the first to be launched in the Land Rover Discovery 3, Range Rover Sport, Jaguar XF and the Jaguar XJ that’s due out in 2010. I have read that Jaguar intends to use large capacitors as opposed to outright bateries for their hybrd systems, but that was a while ago, and seems so early in the game that it is suspect. The thing tha tmakes that high pitchd sound after the flash goes off on a camera is the capacitor.

I have always wanted to put a big capacitor in my Jaguar, but not for the reason that you might think.

The Leaper hood ornament is made of chrome plated nickel, and as such isn't exactly cheap to replace. Mine has been stolen before, on Easter morning 3 years ago to be specific- $450 with labor to replace as I recall.

The hood ornament is on a tensioned cable with a spring, and so has vertical movement. I have always wanted to put a contact plate on the bottom and on the top of that section, so that when someone tries to take the hood ornament it completes a circuit. When this happens the capacitor would discharge and electrocute the person with their hand on my hood-ornament. It never got beyond conceptualization- the battery is in the trunk, liability is an issue....etc.

All I know is that LR seriously needs to reduce its MPG ratings to stay in business. Great looking SUVs though.
