The Defender is in need of better reliability!Landrover is lower reliability than Dodge with repair billy 5 times higher!Aside from reliability issues You have to love the Defender for its tough frame and well designed cage and notice how well the tie rods are tucked out of the way.It still needs selectable lockers!Bottom line is if you can afford to fix the Defender $$$ you will enjoy the well engeneered solid axle suspension!I would love to see Toyota copy the Defender without watering it down and make it affordable and lighter.

Reaaly. I have a 2003 Defender 110 here in Brasil. It is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

Last year we went on trip to Chile Atacama Desert. 7,200 km in 10 days in very remote areas.

I just hope it is as reliable as the current versions.

Lockers are nice, yet, not really necessary for about 85% of the time. The other 15% a winch can handle.

My friend had a Defender 90 and he loved it other than all the expensive repairs $$$$(I loved it too) He spent $10,000. on his tranny rebuild! He was very happy to have sold it, although you have to love the way the drive train is set up with all the vulnerable parts tucked out of the way. This is something all the other manufacturers are not doing anymore!

The defender is not gonna make it far if all it changed was the airbag. It has a poor driving position, high stock step in height, expensive repairs, etc. It needs to be upgraded. I just hope there's a plan in there somewhere like what happened to the G Class, If demand is sufficient, a new modern model will be developed.

Wooow! You are obviously a car/cross over fan and not a truck guy!I agree they shouldn't be so expensive to repair and should be more reliable,BUT! Don't complain about the step in height! This is not a car!The G wagon is now an incapable car! It has been a huge disapointment in the eyes of the off road enthusiasts.Stick to your BMWs
