Time Magazine Names The 50 Worst Car Ever Made: What Are Yours?
Time Magazine has always sparked controversy with their Person of the Year award. So why not extend that controversy to include the "Worst 50 Cars Ever Made?
While most of us will take the choices of the early years as verbatim. We bet many of you might disagree with some of the choices on this list for the last 30 years.
So it made us wonder, and ask you what are your 10 worst cars of the last three decades might be?

No Toyota and Lexus. Because they don't or have never made bad cars.
I bet if Time had to name the 50 greatest cars ever made the top 5 would be this:
1) LS600h: green and fast
2) IS-F: the car that made BMW go out of business
3) Corolla AE86: Porsche killing handling for less than 1/3 the price
4) GS450h: green and fast
5) Supra: Skyline killer

Hey ‘david989’ it’s me again… Please keep in mind that I am not a Toyota “hater” however:
- IS-F can’t kill BMW; heck there are more people on waiting lists for the newest M3 than there those for Lexus’ IS-F.
- Corolla AE86 was an awesome car. But that’s it… Was.
- Supra didn’t kill the Skyline since the Skyline still exists!
You have a nice day though… I hope your Boost doesn’t shoot down too fast this morning.

Airliner your opinions are terrible. The IS-F kills the M3. It has more horsepower, an 8 speed automatic and it will handle better. In fact the Lexus IS-F posted the fastest lap on the Nurnbergring ever.

I think a simple analogy can put this into perspective.
Prior to WWII Hitler was seen as a great leader by the german people and by many americans as well. He was going to establish pride in being a german again after the defeat germany suffered in both lossing the first world war and being smacked around the political table by the Treaty of Versailles.
However once Hilter was established as the dominant power in Europe...well lets just say things didn't turn out as well as expected and a couple million people were murdered.
Sort of like the Ford Explorer. It was going to estblish a new automotive revolution in the car world and make people proud to be yupies and soccer moms again. Yet when it finally allowed the SUV to take power, well things were not all they were cracked up to be and people died (roll overs, no crumple zones, tires exploding). Not to mention their obsessive use of gas strenghted our dependence on foreign oil (whether they caused the 2 latest wars is up for debate) and help to continue to destroy our atmosphere.
So in all the Explorer was like Hitler. Praised for ushering in a new age and then rightly condemned once the world realized what that age had become.

lots of junk on that list!
have to second the 1980s cadillac cimarron, the yugo, the scary pontiac aztek and the jaguar X-type.
to that list i'd add the 1980s chrysler lebaron (and all the K-cars), the 1990 lexus ES250 (an already sad toyota that they simply changed the logos on) and most of the early hyundais.

"No Lexus will ever be on such a list."
It already is, buddy. In fact the entire Lexus line is considered c**p in the eyes of the car enthusiasts and that's a lot worse than the fact that the BMW 7 series(which is a phenomenal car)was put on one of the lists made by clueless journalists in US. Only a brainless idiot will find normal for a car like the BMW 7 series to be on that list.

I don’t know ‘david989’, I partially agree with ‘enthusiasttx11’; the Lexus ES250 might have come pretty close. Heck, a decked out Toyota Cressida was a better car (and value) at the time.

Lexus ES250 was a much better car than any BMW or Benz. Quality is something that car had, unlike BMW and co.

The writer mentions nothing about the car's drive. Instead he focuses on the iDrive and the car's rear. Clearly this person is not an auto enthusiast. The iDrive is not hard to figure out. It only takes a few turns and push. How hard is that? My 5-year-old son can do it. Also, many cars are coming out with iDrive type interface. And many others copied the rear end of the 7 series. (Toyota/Lexus included) If that is a bad thing then I don't know what good.

To me the Chevette and the Pinto were not only worse cars but the most dangerous of all cars ever made. The two biggest car companies in the world at that time to produce what they did borders on criminal to me.
I don't give Chyrsler or AMC safe passage but GM and Ford with such huge resources at the time make them the worse car companies that one could imagine in all lines of cars. Remember the Cadillac's answer to the gas crisis 4-6-8 unbelievable who thought up that, or maybe that is the problem they didn't know how to think?

My list of horrible cars:
1)Lexus ES250 (You ever see how hideous those thing look on the road today. That same year camry's are looking better)
2)lexus SC400 (droop-a-long) That car was shaped like a clown's shoe.
3)BMW Z3 coupe. The original "Clown Shoe"
4)Infinti I30 Two-door
Out of the current cars? The Subarus are looking homely. They've even somehow managed to surpass BMW in awkwardness.

Some of these cars weren't that bad, though many were. The author many times included some vehicles just to opine about their size or fuel economy or environmental impact.
I could have done without all the bashing and political inuendos (Dick Cheney comment). It's completely understandable though, coming from "Time, in partnership with CNN". Would have been even more "interesting" if it were "Time, in partnership with MSNBC".

Also, they left off some very horrible Japanese cars. Again, I'm not surprised, considering how the Japanese are considered the darlings by media. In stark contrast, the media LOVES to bash Detroit and American car manufacturers as evidenced by the NBC "explosion" fiasco and many others. Just fits in with their leftist mindset.

Ford Model T should not be on the worst car list. They only put it there, because of its mass production assembly. You know w/o mass production we would be waiting months and months for one car to be built. If anything, Ford should be thanked for introducing a way to make cars quickly for the market.
So I guess the writer rides abike to work or takes long walks.

What? No Peugeots? No Fiats? No Pontiac Fiero? No Toyota Echo?
Also, why was the Rambo Lambo (LM002) on the list? It was a decent off-roader for its time.

Poor gas mileage was high on the author's list of qualifications for "Worst cars ever", obviously. Just an example of the media using their left-wing leanings to bash auto makers for using their talents to build cars people actually LIKE to drive.
If it were up to them we'd all be driving Toyota Echos (hybrid=overrated + overpriced). It's funny how no Toyotas or ANY Japanese cars made the list for that matter. There were MANY bad Japanese cars early on. How could they not include the 1971 Mazda RX-2? Oh yeah, that bias again. He had no qualms about including the reliable H-2 because of POOR gas mileage size.
