Time to choose: Daimler and Chrysler employees pick sides
As days go by, the split between Daimler and Chrysler is starting to look like a real life divorce. Just yesterday Daimler was already accused of rebounding with BMW after its divorce from Chrysler. Today the employees, or kids if you will, of DaimlerChrysler are being asked to decide who they’ll stick with.

With the divorce finalized this month, 41 employees have until this Friday to decide whether they’ll go to the new Chrysler or stick with Daimler. About 20 American employees have decided...

The guys that will stay with Chrysler may have plans to stay temporarily, or may have pension considerations, or find it inconvenient to move or whatever. You have no idea what their individual agendas are so don't make stupid statements trashing the Japanese for no good reason.

Business is business you got a family to feed than it Daimler for sure. Plus that where all the prestige, heritage and money $$$ is anyway.

It just a simple logic and reasoning question, the answer is so obvious I don't know why it being debated? Unless Chrysler are willing to give millions of dollars away to their employees, than that a different story ;)

Speaking of history, have you read a history book lately? The Mercedes biography happens to be one of the, if not the longest in the auto industry.

Well, it's obvious now that Daimler hasn't a clue how to run an American company. They nearly ran Chrysler into the ground, sucked them dry of their assets and ran off the best of their talent to other companies. Some history! I bet the Daimler history books years from now certainly won't reflect what really happened at DCX!

The new stock symbol is DAI
You are at least partially correct about Mercedes' management skills -- I hate their marketing shenanigans like charging extra for most paint colors on the C-Class and packaging useless garbage with desirable features that should be stand-alone options. I think that Audi is much better managed and offers cars that are more desirable.
I hope that the coming products from Mercedes over the next few years will prove me wrong and their new vehicles will do more than perpetuate my perception that Mercedes has been resting on its 3-pointed star far too long now.

mclarens-pms, You are the stupid one! Chrysler was doing just fine until Schremmp and Co. took over! They had a great management team intact and was an atractive partner for the "merger of equals." Too bad that idiot Eaton sold them out because of his personal greed. Lutz should have been in charge and there would have been a whole different Chrysler today. We can blame Iaccoca for that one, and he acknowleges his choice of Eaton in his book. Yo, sir either have a selective memory, or are just ignorant!

Mr. PMS, By doing just fine, I meant they were at least profitable for one, and they owned the minivan market. It doesn't look like that will last much longer with the new one they've got coming out. They were the most profitable domestic manufacturer at the time and were competitive in several segments with cars in their price range. They dominated the the NAIAS in Detroit for several years and exciting concepts were turning into actual production vehicles. Cars like the 300C and the Hemi engine were already on the table when Daimler came into the picture. The Caliber/Compass/Patriot and new Sebring/Avenger is what we got from Daimler, not the beautiful concept vehicles that preceeded them when Lutz was still there. An attractive two seat roadster would have already been on the road (like the Copperhead, not like the Crossfire POS), and a Charger that actually looks like the real thing may have become a reality, perhaps being more profitable than the monstrosity that currently bears the name. Daimler used Chrysler to sell them old parts(as well as the platform for the Crossfire) bolstering MB profits while Chrysler production plants were closed.

I laughed my arse off when I saw Mercedes dead last on JD Power survey less than a year ago. Even Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge were ahead of it at that time!

Bottom line: The Germans and the Three-Pointed-Star failed! Hardly anyone can disagree with that. They were briefly on the right track with Deiter, and Wolfgang, but Schremmp screwed it up when Wolfy was forced out. Now it's time to see how the Three-Headed-Dog can do. Unfortunately, I think Chrysler has been damaged beyond repair, and the current direction they are headed with Mr. Home Depot does not look promising.
