Tokyo Auto Show: Want to see the next Lexus RX? Here's the concept
The new LF-Xh is described as a SUV based on the Lexus design philosophy of L-finesse and is powered by an advanced hybrid system. The set-up features a V6 petrol engine mated to a high-output electric motor as well as an AWD system. The concept measures in at 4.8m in length and 1.6m in height, making it a good candidate for a preview of the next-generation Lexus RX soft-roader.
*Dollars to donuts, 001 says this IS the next RX.
Lexus' other concept car will be the previous LF-A concept, a 5.0L V10 powered super-coupe with a body constructed from light weight carbon-fiber.
Thanks to Dannyboy2 for the tipoff.
Don't forget, the SEMA auto show is right around the corner!

I don't like either style 100% but the Tribeca is a better vehicle by far and also a better value. the Tribeca has a better AWD system and engine configuration (H6). I bang my head on the roof getting into the RX but not when I get into the Tribeca whose front passenger seat just happens to be at the right height for sliding in without having to bend your body out of shape. Both vehicles have stupidly placed the spare under the vehicle where it accumulates all the winter mud and salt. The RX used to have a matching alloy spare in a proper wheel well inside the vehicle but that is no longer the case.

Well the overall shape may actually look quite a bit like the X6, and no one said anything about that resembling a tribeca.
Just get over it guys, this is the new trend of design for sav s and this lexus design is overall quite modern looking and has a touch of finesse.
This site is just so biased, and even when people make prejudiced and unfair comments, they get boosted up by other cult followers who hate to see anything good from anywhere other than a western contry.
i mean people make comments like "the ISF is plain F'ugly" without any explanation, and no one protests against such brainless comments, and those bloggers get away with it, but if someone else made such a comment against a german brand, then fanboys flocking in hundreds line up to have a say at such a comment and duly deboost the poor soul who dared to speak against anything german.
This site is not for motor enthusiasts, but rather for only cult followers, if you got no support, then you can't even make a comment.
And what happened to Lexus followers, previously they seemed to make their opinions clear, but now because of these bullying from the german fanboys(who outnumber any other fans by a big number), the lexus fans seem to have been put under so much intimidation that they can't even speak their mind.
Here i urge every blogger to speak their own mind, be brave and voice your opinion, because there is no point in getting bogged down under intimidation. And especially to Lexus fans, how can you guys even take all the crap that people here are writting about any lexus model, first the isf and now this.
i know that i am going to get deboosted, but this site is a total exemplification of autocracy, no one but the followers of the german autos can voice their mind securely. This is quite terrible.

Wow fara...That is one of the longest whine fests I have seen in a long time. Feeling a little touchy are we?
First of all, the term fanboy really seems to apply to the Lexus fans whose comments are not only inane but childish at best.
IMO - Most of the German fans have owned these brands, are well informed, and are definitely enthusiasts who appreciate the value of many of brands - especially those that have a strong heritage and identity as performance auto companies.
Your sensitivity to criticism of Toy/Lex could be due to the fact that you understand that in many respects Lexus is a marketing concept first and foremost and an auto company next.
That is not saying they don't make fine autos, but from an enthusiasts perspective, again IMO, a company like Toy/Lexus is a poseur who is spending like mad to gain credibility in a market segment that is repleat with the finest car companies in the world.
Good luck to them, remember what they say "money can't buy Love"

Man! That one serious 'blind spot' in that C-pillar...
and this is really taking the 'slit window' theme to drastic extremes.
This might well represent the shape of the next RX-Series, but it'll be toned down dramatically for production.

Very interesting concept vehicle. I doubt very much that a production version
would have as extreme slopes as this. Looks aggresive and would probably have much more power than the current RX.

I have only one thing to say - they need to keep the clear-lense LED tailights - practically a Lexus trade mark.
I see alot of Ford Edge, not a good thing IMO.
Am I the only one that thinks the current RX already fits in with the 'L-Finese' design? They should slightly tweak it (the same way the Cayenne and Toureg evolved) rather than drastically redesign it.

I don't see it, as the current RX is such a mess of completely unrelated lines and bulges that it looks rather comical.
As for the 'clear lense' tail light treatment - their time has come and (thankfully) gone!

I don't love the RX design, but this one just shouldn't happen. The LX is bad enough.

So the parents are considering the RX 400h for my mom.. I know your wife drives an RX, and I couldn't think of anyone better to ask. Would you buy it again? Would you not buy it now because its apparently getting a re-do pretty soon?
I was going to see whatever article you recently made a post on to ask you and it happened to be this one.. How fitting ha.

It's alright. Obviously, we don't have the hybrid, and we had an RX300 before which makes us less interested in the car as a whole. I personally wouldn't get it again- it's just a touch too boring. But as a first-time buyer, I would half-heartedly recommend it; go with the ML320 CDI or upcoming X5 3.0d instead, though. Maybe even an MDX.

Alex, I actually own the car. It's not amazing. It's no more reliable than any of the German cars I own, and it certainly doesn't drive as well, nor is it better-built (it's actually more cheaply-built than my A3).

"I would go with the MDX before the other two, at least Car and Driver would agree."
Well, A) that's not surprising, and B) the MDX has never been tested against the ML320 CDI nor the X5 3.0d, let alone the three together.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.
Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2
Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.
Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....

I wonder why you aren't banned yet..
Holy crap, buddy. You have NO life! You have been posting this crock of shit non-stop for probably the past year!
"Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds."
Lexus' claimed time (done by a 3rd party - Wards) is 5.3 seconds for the IS 350. The IS 350 (since you are quoting Car and Driver, I might as well do the same) posted a 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds. With Road and Track, the IS 350 posted a time of 4.9 seconds.
Here are my references (don't read them if you don't want to be proven wrong):
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10390/2006-lexus-is350.html
http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/02073car.pdf
If you are going to be demanding *REFUNDS* for Lexus cars or something like a class-action lawsuit (laughs!), you should at least make a good case. Is this what you do for a living? Because if so, you SUCK at it.
Do you ALWAYS speak in definitives regarding things that are NOT definitive?
Oh, and speaking of Car and Driver and using that as a reference for demanding "refunds or apologies from the so-called 'quality' car company", why don't you perform the same public service message for BMW? The BMW couldn't finish the comparison! It overheated and almost killed the driver in a 360-degree spin!
"Then the ABS lamp lit. We tried to execute one stop on our high-desert test road and nearly executed a 360 spin at 70 mph instead (thus, our braking number is from a previous test). Shortly thereafter several airbag-malfunction warnings lit up. Maybe it was just a coincidence.
Even with its dash ablaze in emergency alerts, the 330i wormed its way into our hearts."
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10391/2006-bmw-330i.html
I am dying to hear your response because it sounds like you know what you are talking about.
