Top 10 best selling cars in the UK
So, we've had a look at the 10 worst selling cars in Britain. And here we present the flipside.

Yes, here we have the 10 best selling cars in the country. And though the list contains few surprises the final rankings might.

As expected Ford and Vauxhall dominate, the latter accounting for four of the top 10 with the Corsa nibbling at the Focus's heels for the crown of Britain's favourite car. Meanwhile the relegation of the Vectra and Mondeo to the bottom two places reflects a shift in our car buying habits.

While this is mainly directed to smaller, more affordable cars the presence of two 'premium' German players shows we haven't quite lost the desire to use our car to project wealth and success. Note, in particular, the 3 Series, now as much as a fixture on British roads as the Vectra and Mondeo it now comfortably outsells.

That Ford Mondeo looks hot. Why dont they make cars like that for the US market?

Also, There isn't a Lexus on that list. What do the Americans know that the rest of the world doesn't?

Lexus are expensive versus the brands listed. Yea BMW is on the list, but that 3 series is practically the the price of a Hyundai now (especially in North America)

david666,

Get a grip. The 3 series had an increase in price for this year in North America. Is not a Lexus buddy. It is not sold for pennies.

It's safe to say that Lexus isn't viewed highly elsewhere other than North America. It after all is in essence, a Japanese-American brand. You can't expect the wealthy people in Europe who have had a long history knowing what prestige is to look at a Toyota brand and take it serious. The Rolls Royce, Bentley, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz of that era shaped what the luxury market is today, not Lexus. 20 years isn't history. 50-100 years now that's something that deserves to be be called heritage.

People in many countries have different perceptions of what is luxury to them. What makes you think an American's perception of quality should be considered less equal to a European's?
You guys sound really dopey with some of these comments about people in Europe having "a long history knowing what prestige is". Most of the so-called "prestige" stuff is made in China (with the logo) that is sold in Europe.
A lexus vehicle is considered very high-end in Europe and Russia. Don't kid yourselves.

You must be either a proud owner or a fanboy who's just trying to make himself feel better. Like you said it's how you perceive luxury, whatever makes you sleep better at night. Mercedes Benz is one of the world's most recognized luxury brand along with Rolls Royce and Bentley. When people think luxury, Lexus doesn't come up first. Who you trying to kid?

As for saying that MOST of the "so-called" prestige stuff is made in China (with the logo)...where did you get that from? Name some prestige items for me. Is it watches? or expensive leather goods like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada that you're referring to? If you're talking about clothing then a lot of that may be true.

Hell you think brands that say MADE IN USA are truly made in the USA? Would you believe the US Gov't has an island in Asia and they hire people from overseas to mass produce products? You better believe that. I'm Chinese and i'm tell you how it is. Brands like Affliction Clothing, Xtreme Couture, and many many brands sold in the US with tags stating their made in the country is not exactly how it seems.

lmao! dave ima diehard lexus fan as you can tell but i dont expect lexus to be popular in europe. i'm half russian and i been back to moscow many times before and i see sclass dominate everywhere. lexus ls the 03 model was driven by less income people whereas benz was driven by people of power and people who have better jobs. now in usa is totally different. people who own toyota before and started making more money will end up buying lexus because they like toyota products so with more luxury than a toyota brand car they can get similar luxury for a bargain.

i drive a is300.. sad truth is it was toyota rebadge but its still a good car in my opinion. even tho i know lexus say the ar different company now i still think they rebadge some cars. camry-es, landcruiser-lx, rx-highlander. but it doesnt matter i love lexus still even if it is a toyota car.

i dont agree with a63 but he has some good points. i respect his opinion dont always have to agree.

It`s pretty obvious that Ford and Vauxhall will dominate the list and the 3 series is affordable quality and rear wheel drive the Focus is a very nice drivers car and Vauxhall Corsa nearly as good, Lexus don`t make it because they are just plain boring

The Vauxhall Corsa might come to the U.S. for Saturn. As a economy mileage car, I for one hope that it does! Excellent product for the money!

Lexus doesn't have much to persuade people out of the 3 series.
