I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

250 mph with those aerodynmics and 510 hp? - not even if dropped from a plane at 30,000 feet

Even theoretical maximum speed does not work to the claim of 250 mph.
Theoretical max speed = ((510hp*2)/(air density * Drag Coefficient * Frontal area))^(1/3)
With the drag coefficient and frontal area of the MB SL500 given from the link below
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/id/?id=86251
and a standard sea level air density of 1.2 kg/m^3
The theoretical max speed is 230 mph. This does not even mention any other losses associated with the physical limitations of the mechanics of it all. In other words, 230 mph from the MB SL55 is very very unlikely. Not unless it's in vacuum. But then the engine won't even start.

He means 250 Km/h = 155 MPH
Nearly all MB/BMW/AUDI models are limited to 250 Km/h.
BMW/MB offers to remove the speed limiter for some extra money.

Oh, that makes sense, dav. But that was a horrible typo.

All sporty German cars are limited to 155mph, except Porsche, for some reason.

And Audi broke the contract with the new R8- you can go 190mph in the current V8 version.

No, enthusiastx- that's literally what it's called. BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz had a gentlemen's agreement on top speed limiting, so it wouldn't turn into a second numbers war. We'd be seeing headlines like "Mercedes S65 AMG at 203mph beats Audi R8 at 202mph!"

S4cabriofoxone You´re right, German cars are limited to 155mph, but for some AMG and M models it´s possible to raise the limit to about 300 Km/h. For the MB E63 AMG wagon it costs about 3100€ to raise the limit to 300 Km/h. For the BMW M5 wagon it costs about 2300€ to raise the limit to 305 Km/h . But I don´t know if this option is available in the US.

Not for M cars... but you can lift the limiter off of AMG products here.

I have the exact same SL in silver and you can tell that this is old because the 'Command" center is the old 2003-2004 version. Most likely this is about 5 years old since the 2003 SL 55 came out in late 2002. Oh well...

And what is your point exactly? A car is a car. It is a form of transportation just like your Toyota Soarer. It just happens that nobody even bothered to do a survey to find out how many gay men own a car like yours. Sorry the playing field has to be fair.

Elite,

Another lexus fanboy insecure with their sexuality. I think this car is more masculine than anything toyolex will ever build.
