Jaromir Cech, the lead designer of the Toyota’s FT-86, shot down rumors that the car will be completely redesigned after the initial shape was received badly at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.
In an interview with Autocar, Cech said that the car “will stay largely the same,” however, a few elements are expected to change due to safety regulations and production realities. He said that the front end will have to be raised a bit to comply with pedestrian impact standards. The exterior will also get several revisions similar to those made on the Lexus LF-Ch concept and the production CT 200h. The car will be given more rounded corners and less intricate shapes than the concept. Instead of the highly stylized units on the concept, the car will have conventional lighting. In addition, it will be given a production-style interior.
