Toyota Pickup Drivers Survive To Live Another Day Crash Test Results Reveal
Small Pickups Falter In Side-Impact Crashes
By JONATHAN WELSH

Pickup-truck drivers thinking about switching to a smaller model to save on fuel might want to reconsider. Recent tests indicate small pickups are less crash-worthy than larger trucks, cars and sport-utility vehicles.

In side-impact crash tests carried out on five small pickups by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, only one model -- the Toyota Tacoma -- received the group's highest occupant-protection rating of "good."

And Surviving the crash is the ONLY way to get to look at GIRLS IN BIKINIS - The Mercedes Fashion Show

That's a really great thing to say. Hope you don't die in a car crash today- that would be sad.

So? Does it mean that people should consider buying a tank, and not worry about crashing, even if you'll have 100 cars crush into you.

The Tacoma probably did better because it's really the only 'new' small truck in a while. (Besides maybe the Frontier, but I don't see many of those on the road anyway.)

It's kind of anoying that small trucks aren't that great. None of the domestics small trucks are even worth looking at, which is sad since we've been making some really good big trucks for years.. Why can't they put the same looks and quality into the little trucks? Instead we're stuck with 5-cyl gutless wonders, and Ford Rangers that haven't changed much since Dad had one when he was little!

The Dakota was ok, but only barely. That thing is almost as big as the Ram, so it doesn't really even count as a small truck anymore.

Manufacturers should line the dealer lots with tacoma sized pick up or compact pickups like the ones we have in Asia. Toyota hilux (tacoma), Nissan Frontier (navara), Mazda B Series/Ford Ranger (Asian Vers), Mitsubishi Strada. All with Euro 4 compliant Diesel Engines. Crew cab 4x4 and single cab and double cab long and short bed 4x2s.

Its real simple. I open the door on a Toyota pick-up and the doors are paper-thin. The F-150 has thickness and weight to it.

Q: Which would you choose as a shield if you had a 70,000lb semi coming at you at 70MPH?

F-150 has everything I could ever want in a truck, and the interior is rich and spacious, especially the platinum series with the Mahogony trimmed doors. I'm just waiting for the Asian trucks to copy the wood interior idea.

I don't think you would survive in either one with the kind of odds you are talking about . You are right about the Japanese looking at everthing we make . Reminds me of the fellow classmate that is holding is head up and looking for answers on a test that he/she does not know . And yes , they have been doing this since WW II

I've seen this. I see them video taping at the Detroit Auto show every year. They video tape all the interior compartments, door hinges in working motion on American Cars. I havn't noticed them at the euro cars, but I always see thenm at the big 3 displays. They spen so much time inside the car that a line of people builds up and people can't get a chance to sit inside.
