To me, it always seems to justify a month's worth of Lexus and Toyota bashing. It's one day of peace.

I stand corrected! You have to sort the PR spin and on some you have to read the summary better than others. That was my mistake, the correction to the headline will changed to:

Toyota -3.5% Lexus up 4.9%

I like seeing the sales numbers, so the haters can shut up for once. Lexus up, Benz DOWN.

End of story.

Not everyone is as forth coming with the actual unit sales, So I try to post the article and update later with a sales chart. Sometimes our enterprising users find them first and post a link.

Excuse my extreme bluntness. I officially give a German fan permission to bring up BMW's extremely good month now...

Mercedes is crap. Always has always will be. People just bought them because there was no Lexus and BMW were to uncomfortable. Lexus is the new player in town and this will remain so for a 1000 years if not more. I sincerely believe that. Lexus is already killing Audi in global sales. MB is next then BMW.

david989, Audi sells twice worldwide what Lexus does.

Get your facts right Rupert. VW sales don't count.

I'm not including VW sales, I mean Audi sales, and Audi alone.
Audi is on course to sell over 900000 vehicles (possibly 1 million) this year, last year it sold more than 800000, while Lexus sold 400000.

And why am I deboosted for facts, whereas Mr Mental-institution here gets positive boost for saying Mercedes has always been and will always be crap?

How's that Tundra doing? 23,150. Didt everyone predict failure?

And Prius, 16,062. Isn't the hybrid "hype" over? Guess not.

Not the grestest month for Toyota, but they're down where you would expect them to be (Highlander, Corolla), and selling extremely well in other areas (RAV, Tundra, hybrids), despite all the naysayers and haters.

We have global warming because of the dirty diesels the Germans have been producing for years. The Prius is going to save our planet. Thanks to Toyota we will have a planet to survive on for the future.

Dude blame factories for global warming, the amount of pollutions are nothing compared to factories and nuclear power plants... check it out man!

For all of nuclear power's ills, it is actually quite effective at reducing greenhouse gases. Most (non-radioactive) emissions from nuclear power plants are water vapor.

And yes, I am counting on my Prius to help save the world. Call me smug. I dont care.

This car is Lexus’ attempt at pushing the “green factor” too far, IMO. The LS600hL’s environmental impact is TRIVIAL due to the small number of cars it will sell. This “green factor” argument works FOR the Prius, since it has mass market appeal (and sold in such numbers), and has a much larger (if still small) positive environmental impact vs. the LS600hL. Lexus is a luxury make, and the LS is the pinnacle, so far fewer LS’ are sold than ES/GS/RX. If Lexus were really trying to help the environment, it would apply their hybrid technology to the volume leaders first. Lexus (with Toyota) has the enviable position to set the precedent by example (by being the worldwide volume leader). Toyota is doing its part, but Lexus is not. Thus, the LS600hL is just a marketing stunt (and an expensive one at that). Don’t drink the LS600hL Koolaid!
