You know what's funny? None of your precious automakers could build a truck to save their life.

Actually, if it wasn't for the Silverado and the F150 there wouldn't be Ford or Chevy.

4.4 liter diesel coming in 2010. This heavy duty enough. a 7.4 diesel is overkill.

If they want to even pretend to have any desire to keep that truck around Toyota pretty much HAS to release a diesel. Whether or not it be "HD" may be up for debate but 13 in the city with their gasser just isn't going to cut it.

I actually agree with you. Part of the legitimacy of the Tundra being heavy duty is a heavy duty version.

news of tundra's demise is premature.

"It’s important to remember that Toyota is not alone - every truck manufacturer is facing double-digit year over year sales declines in their truck lines. As of right now, Toyota Tundra year over year sales have declined less than any other half-ton truck (excepting the Honda Ridgeline, but that’s not really a truck). In other words, don’t let any Ford, Chevy, or Dodge owners tell you Toyota’s in trouble. If anything, the Dodge Ram is the most likely candidate to disappear. Rumors that Chrysler has exhausted their operating cash have some analysts convinced they’re likely to file bankruptcy."

Ram is a making money it sells in far larger volumes than the Tundra does. It also has a very large and rabid following.

the Ram is no doubt still making money. (its tooling has long been paid off, unlike the case with the tundra.)

but Chrysler THE COMPANY is losing cash faster than its pulling it in.

even GM is in danger of bankruptcy according to analysts. how much shakier is chrysler?

(for domestic fans, this means Nissan will be without a big p/u too, if chrysler folds.)

What ever truck company makes there vehicle much better on gas and still able to tow will come out the winner. I believe an electric truck from PML is the answer! More power and at least 3x better on gas?

Stop writing lame @$$ articles about just the Tundra. We get it, you don't like it. But don't sit on a high horse thinking everyone else is ok. GMC, Checy, Nissan, Ford, Dodge are ALL losing out and cutting production and the like. So it is NOT just Toyota. This is the 4th or so article I've seen about the Tundra sales falling and production cutbacks. I have seen maybe one about Ford. C'mon, be a little bit fair at least.

Ford is coming out with a smaller F150 to be possibly called the F100. Not sure if it will be a Ranger replacement, but according to them it is going to be just a tad smaller than an F150, get better mileage, towa good amount and have newer engines like the EcoBoost coming out. So it should be a slot between the 150 and Ranger.

Oh, and please get fair with your lame truck articles.

ford won't be able to call it the ford F100.

toyota will raise a stink just as ford did, when before coming up with the tundra name, they were planning to call the bigger T100 the T150. LOL!

btw, a friend is considering buying a used T100. those LOOK MIGHTY GOOD nowadays!
