Toyota builds its own LS600h
The Crown luxury hybrid vehicle could best be described as Toyota’s version of the Lexus LS600h hybrid flagship saloon. Engineers have packed the vehicle with the latest technologies from Toyota’s research labs and then added an opulent leather and woodgrain interior. Read Article

The Crown has recently become little more than a more stately/conservative version of the Celsior/LS-Series, so the addition of this power-train option comes as little surprise.

The looks are nothing to write home about, so it'll serve them well to keep it a JDM product.

If you look at it long enough, it looks like a photoshopped G35 (look at the outside of the headlights)

I don't know witch dork wrote that article but the crown has nothing to do with the LS460/600. The crown royal is based on the GS so this is like a GS450h.

The crown majesta is LS related but that model isn't getting a hybrid version.

This is more luxurious than the LS430, and very close to the LS460...

LexusKindaGuy, what would they ever gain from bringing this car to the States? It would only serve to make the LS460 look overpriced and steal sales.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....

I wonder why you aren't banned yet..

Holy crap, buddy. You have NO life! You have been posting this crock of shit non-stop for probably the past year!

"Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds."

Lexus' claimed time (done by a 3rd party - Wards) is 5.3 seconds for the IS 350. The IS 350 (since you are quoting Car and Driver, I might as well do the same) posted a 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds. With Road and Track, the IS 350 posted a time of 4.9 seconds.

Here are my references (don't read them if you don't want to be proven wrong):

http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/02073car.pdf

If you are going to be demanding *REFUNDS* for Lexus cars or something like a class-action lawsuit (laughs!), you should at least make a good case. Is this what you do for a living? Because if so, you SUCK at it.

Do you ALWAYS speak in definitives regarding things that are NOT definitive?

Oh, and speaking of Car and Driver and using that as a reference for demanding "refunds or apologies from the so-called 'quality' car company", why don't you perform the same public service message for BMW? The BMW couldn't finish the comparison! It overheated and almost killed the driver in a 360-degree spin!

"Then the ABS lamp lit. We tried to execute one stop on our high-desert test road and nearly executed a 360 spin at 70 mph instead (thus, our braking number is from a previous test). Shortly thereafter several airbag-malfunction warnings lit up. Maybe it was just a coincidence.

Even with its dash ablaze in emergency alerts, the 330i wormed its way into our hearts."

I am dying to hear your response because it sounds like you know what you are talking about.

"Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating."

it was corrected. there was just a new scale to base hp on, which lowered everyone

It lowered all the JAPANESE cars- none of the Germans or Americans or Koreans. The RX330 was re-rated at 221hp, the TL was re-rated to 258hp, etc...

Hmmmm, "re-rated". You just can't trust the Toyota people.

BMW, Benz, Audi - NONE of these "re-rated" their cars. They didn't have to. They told the truth. Lexus got caught.

Lexus always pulls stuff like this.

Also, Hunday, you are taking this far toooooo personally. It is what it is...

Get over it....

All I know is that you have never replied to me with anything to back up your claims. Nobody else bothered to respond to you either which is probably a case of people ignoring your mindless dribble. Some less-informed readers might take what you are posting as some sort of revelation, which it is not. Hence, the reason for my replies...

What I call taking "too far" is posting the same garbage in every article related to Lexus or Toyota. How about you show some integrity and back up your claims with FACTS, which is something that I did.

You say "it is what it is", however you didn't offer any sort of repeatable data that would indicate that Toyota and Lexus always does what you say they do. Basically, you are taking a result of one Lexus in a car comparison and applying those results across the board of all Toyotas and Lexus'. It would be the very same thing as saying that all BMWs do near-360-degree spins and have brake failures, simply based on the one Car&Driver article that I posted as a reference to Lexus IS 350's 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds (versus Lexus' claimed 5.3 seconds). Alas, BMWs are pretty reliable cars, so it is not the case.

I would just like to see you be honest for once.

There isn't anything to get over, well, besides the steaming pile of shit that you post on practically all the Toyota and Lexus articles...

How do you spell fugly...C.R.O.W.N. Does not look like a luxo car, but a high end Camry with CLS/G37 headlights.

As for title...who else build LS600 besides Toyota?
