I think Honda would be a good #1. I've always thought of Honda as being a different car brand than the rest. I think that if they ever became the #1 seller, they wouldn't change a thing except improving. Of course, I don't know this for sure, but I trust Honda. They've had some of the best selling vehicles and they don't let it go to their head.

LOL. Nobody believed me when I said months ago that Toyota was going to take a drop in quality as they initiated their massive production scales to overtake GM.

Now that they are #1 they will have to deal with the same issues GM dealt with. Hopefully they had their note pads out taking notes when GM was suffering.

Hmmmm I wonder how this will affect Lexus' image.

"I don't think that it will affect their image too much. It takes quite a few hits before anything negative happens."

That's true. But, you know what? GM did that. And their image took a HUGE dive. That's how they ended up... behind Toyota. And no matter what, there will be some corrupt person, somewhere, willing to sacrifice consumer satisfaction for profit. And that will be Toyota's downfall; it's happened to almost everyone else, and they are not immortal. They are people! Toyota isn't the cars, it's the people who run it! All people are after the same thing!

I don't think Lexus will be harmed at all by this. Over the years, Toyota and Lexus have become more and more distant. They're starting to design their cars independently and everything like that. Plus, the majority of Lexus buyers don't know that Lexus is made by Toyota.

Yes, Lexus has become more overpriced.

Still cheaper than the competition.

According to the Consumers car blog, Toyota dropped to 3rd not 5th.
Still very, very impressive for a high volume manufacturer.

Nice call CR ;)

Yeah. I think you just made a fool of yourself. Toyota is still higher ranked than BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Volkswagen (just to name a few). If you think Toyota is a POS, then all of your favorites are worse.

who cares about these reports...

when they were number 1, who cared? they can be 1, 5, 10, people will still buy a toyota because of their association with "reliability".

It'll take Ford 10 years to get rid of their reputation for being poor quality cars.

5th isn't anything to be ashamed of. Well done Honda for #1. Personally, I think Honda's engines are better than Toyota's anyway.

Their cars. Acuras aren't better than Lexuses... but Hondas are better than Toyotas.

I've been reading about poor interior quality in the Camry lately. Very surprising.

I agree. Acura sucks compared to Lexus. But I've been more than impressed with Honda. I respect Honda more than any other brand. They're the most innovative, in my opinion. I'm starting to think that Toyota isn't trying as hard as they should be since they've become the #1 selling auto brand. They worked so hard on their other cars to be the best and now that they're the best, they turn down the notch. I say make the best better.
