From reading the article, it sounds more like BWM wants the Toyota iQ platform.

A collaboration between 2 very competent companies, but somehow I always thought it would be Honda-BMW. Toyota is more process driven. Could be a good thing, we'll have to wait and see.

I just don't think micro-cars are going to be that popular in the USA where we tend drive long distances.

Hahahahaha! Well this destroys huu76's argument from the Vision EfficientDynamics article: "You're just not looking close enough or you can't admit it. Once again, Toyota leads, BMW follows. Suck it up boys." Apparently Toyota couldn't be bothered to make their own platform and have to beg BMW for a piece of their platforms. Sorry huu76...

This article just reinforces my statements, they can't copy Toyota so they have to get Toyota to provide the real deal.

What does the Mini offer that Toyota doesn't already have? Just like renting out some Italian designer's name, they're just renting the Mini name so some Europeans won't automatically discount a Toyota based on its country of origin.

Seems like BMW would get Toyota IQ's Platform and Interior and Toyota just the platform of mini coupe. Aston Martin also want Toyota IQ.

In other news, apparently Aston Martin will be using the Toyota iQ platform to make an entry level poser model. BMW is not only following Toyota but AM too.

BMW: Following is cheaper than leading.
