Looks like Toyota REALLY wants to put Ford and Chevrolet's truck divisions in a world of hurt!

it doesn't look too bad.

saw 100s of them at a dealer lot and the top of the range looked bad and aggressive.

either way i don't have a clue about trucks.

Maybe because they can't sell the rig. Nah, it has to be the Toyota conspiracy, it explains everything in the automotive world ;)

I don't know if they want to put them in a world of hurt as much as they want to sell them. So far, by my own observations, they're not as popular as the new Sierra, F-150, or Silverado.

Are you kidding me? I've seen more new Tundras than the new Sierra and the F-150 combined. Motortrend once stated that the Tundra did not have any innovations at all. Well apparently they were wrong. And they stated that it would not sell. Again they were proven wrong by the sheer volume that is moved each month.

Soopakrn,

Where do u live? New GM trucks are VERY competitive and have MUCH better styling than this. Ive seen only a handfull of Tundras. This truck needed to be a value truck not an aspiring equal. Thats where they went wrong.

The diesel version is not far behind. The new Landcruiser's V8 turbo diesel can fit in the Tundra.

They have been discounting them for months here in Texas(where they are made). Have seen a few on the road but the nex GM Trucks are spreading like wild fire in South Texas. Would really like to see the new F150, the new Super Duty from Ford looks pretty cool.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....

Problem one is that truck buyers want their trucks exactly how they want them. Specific options, interiors, colors, etc. The big three know this and enable their customers to get what they want. Toyota didn't know this and is trying to get customers to buy what they made.

Second problem is the cam shaft problems they've had. Everyone knows about it (bad news travels fast) and prospective buyers are turned off - Toyota's reputation for quality doesn't work when buyers know they've had a significant issue like the camshaft problem in a brand new truck.
