confirmed today it is spending nearly $500 million to upgrade its Indiana SUV assembly plant.The world’s biggest automaker approved the investment of 44.9 billion yen, or $467.2 million at current exchange rates, last year, spokesman Paul Nolasco said.

The revamp will be completed in the next three months, he said. Nolasco could not confirm the details of the overhaul. But Bloomberg News reported late Sunday that Toyota was retooling to build the Highlander and Sequoia SUVs on the same line.

What innovations has Toyota invented besides the 8 speed automatic gearbox and better ways to mass produce their cars quicker with better quality with just in time delivery no one knows about?

Seriously what have they spent on product other then making better plants?

No Turbocharging
No Sports car yet!
No fun!!

Oh yea the land cruiser get a special bolder cruising rock crawling extra slow cruise control feature...Now that is Innovative and Useful to my life!!!!

No Dual Clutch: So? Most enthusiasts and leasers wouldn't even knew they had one.
No Turbocharging: Welcome to 1993, guess you've never heard of the Supra TT.
No Sports car yet: You really have never heard of the Supra. Been there, done that. That's right, unless its German, it don't qualify.

People are just miffed that Toyota actually has money to spend. The Germans and Americans wish they had that much money so they could offer even more incentives.

The new Venza has quietly become a hit for Toyota, fresh design, actual utility, good mileage, distinct looks, all without having to spend hundreds of millions on hype and then artficially limiting production to claim they're sold out (I'm talking to you X6).

A "quiet success" defines the Venza perfectly, which is amazing given how the media doomed the car from the start for simply being a Camry wagon. Who would have thought people would want a Camry wagon? Toyota would have thought, and now they are cashing in.
