Toyota will beat Volt to market
General Motors’ product chief Bob Lutz has a revealed that test fleets for the production Chevrolet Volt would start running as early as next year and that the first customer cars could start rolling of assembly lines earlier than the proposed November 2010 release date.

However, Lutz also stressed that GM is not in a race with Toyota to be the first to the market with a mass produced plug-in hybrid vehicle, explaining that the two vehicles will be very different.

Its sad that the author couldn't get the point of Lutz's conversation: the Volt isn't just a plug in hybrid. And as such GM and Toyota aren't racing toward the same goal.

Agreed. The article had a definite negative and condescending vibe to it.

The vold isnt just a plug in hybrid. Its an alle elctric vehicle capable or using stored gas, ethanol, or diesel to charge the battery once the 40 mile range per charge has been depleted. If thats not innovation, I dont know what is

I don't care who beats who as long as they get them out! BTW this is why a capitalist society is good, COMPETITION. When you vote, remember that...we don't want to be socialist.
