Toyota will continue to sell old Prius when the 2010 model goes on sale

Why would anyone want to buy an old Prius when they know a new one is out? Surely the consumer knows their financial situation. Why settle for second best?. The quality on the Prius isn't the greatest either, especially for a Toyota. Best bet is the upcoming generation.

You'll be driving a NEW 2009 Prius in 2010. Won't that make you feel like an idiot? Sure it's good on fuel consumption but the environment has already been damaged in the long run by driving one.

Of course they would continue to sell the current Prius's. What would they do with all the Prius's sitting on car lots? Melt them down?

i think this time Toyota should also consider Middle East market and sell it here as well. Prius is such an icon. Maybe will not be the countymen's favourite but the millions expatriates would like it. Camry and Corolla crowd.

It is an "icon" because it did the hybrid thing RIGHT. It exploded in sales, and become a phenomenom setting the bar for the Hybrid market.

There are tremendous flaws in the logic, but I just wanted to clear that up.

First of all Chump, this move is being done in Japan not the US. Second, you (supposedly) drive a import and you have the audacity to make this statement about Toyota? They have to do it I mean down here our official Nissan dealer is still selling the 2008 Murano while a bunch of people are importing the redesigned O9 Murano themselves! The 08 Murano isnt even being sold cheaper its still $37,000!

This is a bad idea that will dilute the brand of all value.
Toyota is making a very poor choice and will be easy for the Insight to beat them at their own game.

One reason cars aren't selling is that they are too expensive and incomes-savings are just going down every week.
