Tuner Car Of The Week: One Of A Kind Supercharged IS300
While we weren’t fortunate enough to receive a real Altezza on the stateside, Lexus’ version of the IS300 during those years quenched the thirst for many that desired a performance sedan. Combining luxury and performance into a neat package sporting four doors, the IS300 chassis started a new trend in the industry that has carried on for many years. One of the biggest gripes many owners had with the IS300 was its lack of horsepower performance, but the aftermarket jumped on quickly to rectify that situation. Toyomoto out of South Florida was one of those companies, having specialized in Toyota and Lexus performance for many years now. They were one of the first on the market to offer a supercharger solution to the IS300, providing owners the reliability and drivability they demanded while giving them a suitable horsepower upgrade.

This IS300 sports the Toyomoto stage 1 supercharger kit that comes complete with a Rotrex SP32 supercharger and a huge list of Toyomoto goods. Their custom bracket, front mounted intercooler, fuel system, electronics, headers, and y-pipe really opened up this IS300 to tear up the streets. A Carson Tuned exhaust gives everyone on the streets a fair warning that this IS300 is far from stock.

It’s not just the exhaust note that reminds other people that this IS300 is far from stock. Its exterior has been completely revamped but keeping within the classy IS300 body lines. A Full Carisma Top Gun body kit was outfitted first, while a Type II carbon fiber hood was custom painted to really set off the exterior. The lighting was completely overhauled throughout the exterior of the vehicle and a set of 19x8 and 19x10 I-Forged wheels replaced the stockers. Falken’s coveted FK-452 series tires wraps the bling while a set of Rotora big brake kits peek out from behind the spokes.

On the inside of the car, the IS sports plenty of ICE and subtle interior upgrades. It’s time again to check out the photos and see what it’s all about!

So how much power does it produce now? 400-600hp? The IS300 sounds great with a supercharger, but turbos do make a hell of alot more power. Im guessing he went with the super for daily driving and no turbo lag.

For those who dont know this, the IS300 has the Toyota Supra N/A engine and transmission. Alot of people sucked out close to 1000hp with this engine, along with the right transmission.

What a fantastic car! The F-line must have been inspired by this.

one of the reasons why I always wanted one...it's like a lux 4 door n/a supra.

If I ever actually find one with a 5speed (so, so rare) in either black or white I'm buying it...

I tried to find a manual with nav for more than a year and they simply couldn't find me one.

So Now you could get the IS250 with a 6 speed manual and slap a pair of ceramic turbos, for sequential use. That should get you good power and not much turbo lag, plus ceramic stay a lot cooler than the regular turbos, but is gonna cost you.

I guess it's hate it or love it, but i love the gauges.

And i was so close to getting an IS250 w/ the 6spd (put a deposit down but went back the next day and refunded it) because as nice a car it is, i cant bare to spend that much money for 0-60 in 8 seconds...

This is the one thing i hate about the American car market. The enthusiasts suffer because every wants an auto...the want to look the part but not drive the part ;)

Do you guys remember that IS430 I believe it was? The GS motor dumped into the IS? That was a beauty too.

if i recall right, the toyota Altezza (basis for 1st generation IS) had both 4 and 6-cylinder models.

the FOUR was the hot set-up! higher revving, and more horses at the top. the 6 was for "softer" cruising, more low end torque but not as exciting to play with at high revs.

the IS250 was NOT a car to sneer at.
