Word on the street is that the U.

S. could be getting a Mazda MX-5 coupe variant in the near future. The fixed-roof MX-5 was previously available in Japan and due to a lower price point than the convertible, the MX-5 coupe could be a good addition to Mazda’s U.S. lineup.

While Mazda is pretty quiet about the matter, rumor has it that the coupe MX-5 could arrive in U.S. showrooms as early as 2010 along with a facelift to the model.

I think a coupe would work. Look how many variations Porsche has done with the 911.

goddamn, it's about time. now honda needs a s2000 coupe (+ a new generation).

i've seen various miata coupe renderings over the years, and they looked pretty good.

What Mazda need to do is to release a MazdaSpeed version of the MX-5 Miata. Now a MazdaSpeed hardtop MX-5 is even better especially if they can keep the price down over the convertible.

definetly, but I think the dealer sells mazdaspeed parts that are readily availble to install.

We all are waiting for the MazdaSpeed 2.4L turbo engine to be put in the MX-5. 200-240 HP in an MX-5 will just be about perfect. The currently available MazdaSpeed parts are good to have, but they are not what we all have been waiting for.
