Looks promising. I do hope it will make it to US. We need some fun small cars from Europe since the Japanese turds like Yaris, Fit, Versa cannot fit the bill.

But david969 is right about the quality of the car. Its a shame too, becuase only the Germans and Koreans make good fun little Socialist hatchbacks that arent cutesy for girls. However, I have been doing a study for my job on cars, and it shows VW is getting better in small car quality, and improving rapidly. The Japanese are slacking and the Koreans are now the best at making small cars, according to recalls and problems per car. The outsourced Chevy Aveo is rapidly improving in quality as well.

The Japanses small cars have that styling that mainstream small car lovers like. But as I said they are slacking in small car (B and C Segment) quality. I do not recommend a Civic to anybody right now, trust me. For that money you could have gotten a problem free Elantra. The Jetta is a better choice than a Civic as well, and the newer ones are more reliable.

But 1UAW, most people buy Civics becuase they know little about cars, much less current trends in the Automotive industry. This decade has been a bad one for the Civic in terms of reliablity, yet people will buy a Civic over more reliable cars anyday, becuase "oh it looks better." VW slacked in the 1990s, becuase most Americans shop for cars like they shop for food. If it looks good, then it must be good quality. So therefore, I will consume it without considering quality, current reliablity history, etc..... However, when the real hardcore VW purchasers jumped ship, VW woke up.

"How can someone be right about the quality of a car that is not even on the market yet? I have an '07 Volkswagen Rabbit 4 Door and I have had not one issue and over 34K on the clock. Not one time has it been in for anything other than routine stuff. If you are talking about old Gen cars, then yeah maybe some did have issues, the current gen is helluva lot better then the past and the next gen will be even more so...."

You do make a good point, but the 07 Rabbit has 1 Recall. Its a goood car Iam quite sure though. You guys will be a great competitor for Us at Hyundai/KIA in coming years. VW is hungry again, and hungry auo makes fight hard to make good cars.

VW quality has been in the crapper longer than since the 1990s. It started in the 1970s and got worse for the next 30+ years. Instead of doing something about it the hard headed krauts told the US market to go suck and expected Americans to buy their crap. By 1993, VW was ready to move out of the US their sales were so abominable.
The "new" Beetle saved their butt, but quality continued to decline right into the 2000s.
I dropped VW after 25+ years of being a customer and a salesman. I never looked back. Thanks to VW I now own 3 great Nissans, including a GT-R.
As far as I am concerned VW can go the way of its founder, Adolph Hitler!
