US Mazda6 gets bigger body and more powerful engines
Mazda is planning an August launch for its all-new Mazda6 midsize sedan in North America, almost a year after the car was first displayed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Part of the reason for the delay is because the new car has been specifically designed for North America and includes a larger body and more powerful engines than the global version.

Handling and comfort were also optimized for North American road conditions.

Judging from the photo of that red car, the American version doesn't have the proportions or appeal of the Euro version, which looks tight and sporty. Too bad.

Yes, very sexy and curvy, great looking car. Are there any other mainstream midsized cars that can compare?

Looks like the current generation Maxima to me.

What ever happened to the 929?

Love!!!
Mazda could have the best design language right now (right up there with Audi).
Between this and the next gen Mazda3 (I saw it at a clinic, OMG it was hot), they could really compete with the big boys in the US. The 6 had to be bigger, it was just a tad undersized vs the competition. Now dont let us down Mazda, keep bringing over the hatch and wagon.
If only this had a hybrid option....The Fusion is getting one, so who knows....

Even Bob Lutz said that Mazda has the most consistent design thru the whole line up. Indeed. I see a lot of cues from my CX-9 on the new 6. The 3.7L is from Ford. The 6-speed auto tranny is from Aisin, Japan.

Just like as Honda doing 2 different sized Accords(smaller one for Europe(Acura TSX),Mazda has decided to do the same to be competative in the Accord,Camry,Altima class.

looks like someone took the headlights from the for fusion an pulled and stretched them. notice the squares inside, very similar in design to the fusion. Nice car though, too bad we can't get the other one though.

Great job Mazda!

For those that disagree, google "Mazda 626" as a reminder of where this car came from.

The rear end (especially in the 3/4 rear profile in red) is quite sexy for a car in that category. It looks like a stretched out cat.
