Unmasked GTR V-Spec prototype at Nurburgring
Nissan execs have confirmed the existence of a Spec-V GT-R, a lighter and more powerful version of the already extreme Japanese supercar, and latest speculation suggests the car could make an appearance at next month’s Paris Motor Show.

Late last month Nissan, through its official in-house tuner Nismo, revealed a new upgrade package for the GT-R, which included a titanium exhaust system, six-spoke Rays alloy wheels and revised underbody panels.

Bigger news. The GTR based Infiniti is coming soon!

"Nissan execs, meanwhile, have confirmed that the GT-R is an unprofitable model but the introduction of vehicles based on the same platform will help change that. In addition to the Spec-V, the platform is expected to yield a model for Infiniti due for release in less than a year."

The "standard" GTR is already a 911 Turbo killer. This will be in a league of its own.

It doesn't matter if it beats the 911 Turbo. Fact of the matter is, the 911 will always be the better build and will always be the iconic car out of the two. The 911's design is timeless and it's obvious because the basic shape has lived for so many years and with success.

Sure the GT-R has bragging rights with numbers but in the end of the day I still opt for a Turbo. Most of the buyers who buy GT-R's won't even run them on the track to run it to the potential it was built for anyways. 911 is simply the better choice. More curb appeal, more sex appeal, better quality interior, and more prestige. So with that said the GT-R is still a Nissan and Porsche will always be a Porsche. So the GT-R is definitely in a league of its own. But it was never in the league of a Porsche in terms of what I just mentioned.

I drove a colleagues GT-R the other day here in Phoenix, AZ. Very fast and a pleasure to drive but I drove his 911 Turbo with a TechArt package and the GT-R felt completely different. The Porsche was a better experience, not so pampered by the computers. 911 gets my vote for the purist drive I've had.

The GT-R is quicker but not by much I'll tell you that.

The V-Spec will be a beast! I can't wait to see it on the road. Aside from all the downfalls I mentioned about this Nissan product the car is undeniably fast! I hope the owners take it out on a track and use it instead of driving around looking cool.

i must admit, after watching the Top Gear 911 Turbo versus GTR video I'm convinced that the GTR is the better car. The interior on a 10yr old porsche looks as shitty as any 10 yr old Nissan. So don't give me that build quality crap. With the $70k you save buying the GTR you can upgrade the brakes which was the only complaint about the GTR.

Nissan positioned the GTR perfectly. At this price with the performance there's no way real driving enthusiasts can not think hard before dropping 50% more on the competition. I wish they would make a convertible - I like my auto indulgences in two's.

The only reason folks talk about build quality with luxury cars is so that they can resell them to some bonehead right before they start falling to pieces.

Agent63, although I agree with you on the 911's timeless design, but dude who cares when that timeless design gets its ass kicked big time by this monster?

My respect to Porsches, I love them, but the GT-R is changing times and the new ones are to be beaten by Porsche now.

"So the GT-R is definitely in a league of its own."

I think that`s good when some car is creating their own nische ( league ) , better than entering someone else nische , innovative . Porsche 911 is unique due to their design and engine behind rear axle .

Saw my first GTR in living color here at the local Nissan Dealer and with the 73K price plus dealer markup that thing was just under 100K. The car did have a presence about it! For a little more I'll take the 911 Turbo.

few days ago saw three GT-Rs red, black and silver parked on the entrance gate of a showroom. All looked powerful and very angry. What a wonderful car.

Man 100hp more, so that makes it 580hps+. If the standard GT-R is a true monster, this "thing" is beyond a monster. The V spec will be beyond insanity. Simply we'll have to come up with new words for it.
