Up To The Challenge? Why Of Course! 2009 Hyundai Genesis Review
One of the cornerstones of our existence is reminding the auto industry that "those who don't learn from the mistakes of the past are destined to repeat them."

As a corollary we can say that learning from history's successes forms part of the recipe for a flat-out victory in today's highly segmented, price sensitive market.  We have seen almost two decades since the boring sheetmetal of the Lexus LS400 hit our shores, forever changing the way we think about luxury cars.

Fast forwarding along that school of thought brings us to the new, V8-powered, Hyundai Genesis 4.6. Status seekers know the drill: avoid a South Korean automobile at all costs.

I really like the interior. Im not nitpicking but if all they do is work on the A/C Vents, Steering wheel, and Shifter it would make the car so much better

P.S. Im really digging that S-Class Style lower dash console :) Its probably my favorite design element of the interior.

I'm the opposite, while the exterior is derivative it is still handsome and clean, while the interior reminds me of, well, a Hyudai. But of course, I've only seen pictures...I dont even know where the Hyundai dealer is around here but I should find one over the long weekend and take a look at this thing.

They show this car beating the 750i and Porsche Boxster on their website, I must say I was impressed with that 4.6 V8

While nobody denies that Japan has a checkered past in Asia it's important to keep the following in mind. Hyundai started their line up with the Excel back in the late 80's. It was essentially a re-badged Mitsubishi. In fact, the inline-4 in the Excel was developed almost entirely by Mitsubishi for Hyundai. Beating the Japanese may be a issue of national pride for the Koreans but Mitsubishi, a Japanese company, helped Hyundai establish it's foundation product.

I've ridden in a 4.6 and it is a surprisingly good car. Extremely good ride and always enough power to take you wherever you want. Think of it as a MB E550 or a 550i

Not bad. Good job, Hyundai. As long as Hyundai doesn't drop the ball and keep on going strong, I only see good things for Hyundai.

Who cares about sound systems (actually I do) but I tried the Bang & Ol.. in the A8 (they got a new fleet for *** limo) The price of the option for the sound system A8 is a little toooo overboard - can't come anywhere near the after market system i put in my CX7.

Whoever starts making little stick-on Benz hood emblems for this one will retire rich.
