Upcoming Beetle Design Will Inject More Testostorone

Prepare to fall in love with the Bug again! Auto Express has learned that Volkswagen is planning an all-new Beetle... and it’s dropping the present car’s cute curves for an altogether more sporty and striking look.

The new styling direction has come about because VW wants to attract more male customers to the model. A company insider told Auto Express that the current variant is considered too feminine and needs to have a stronger shape.

It's the VW Ragster concept, very old.

Looks like they are ripping off the mini, trying to be a bug, and looks weird/ bad

It does have a look of the mini. So if you want to drive a car that looks like a mini, then buy a mini! Anyway, I like this design better than the current bug. With a flatter roof, why not bring back the 't-top'? That'd look good on this.

Wow... there's a lot of queer loving going on in this site. Don't say anything against the gomos. You will be lynched for having an opinion! (what a double-standard!)

I think volkswagen should make it a rear engine car again and that would increase sales.

Hell ya. If you want more men to buy it, drop a 911 flat 6 in and drive the rear wheels. Now that would be a car!

That's what I thought from the photo of the rear. I saw MINI on the roofline and the side.

Looks like a chop-top hot rod. Just needs some flat black paint and some red steelie rims with chrome hubcaps.

Looks like they are giving it the Scion treatment.

Honestly, the current design is ancient but perfect. (It isn't my cup of tea at all but I am admitting the great execution of the design) They should just kill the model off rather than going this route.

As before, after reading the (3) third paragraph:

Going up against revived classics such as the MINI and Fiat 500, the new Beetle is due to arrive in 2010. We’ve produced an artist’s impression to show you how the car is tipped to look. And, as you can see, it’s much more assertive, mixing a coupé-style low roofline with chunky pillars, a squared-off waistline – similar to the latest Audi TT’s – and a wider stance.

We learn that autoexpress produced an artists impression of how the car should look according to some vague parameters of masculinity....wow

Seriously as it was mentioned before, the Beetle of today with its roof hacked and then have it replaced by that from a Mini. That is EXACTLY what this car looks like.

still looks sort of the same but it has a flat roof and that loooks better because the old one looks like an egg with an engine

It is still a chick's car. I hope they retain the "bud vase" for the ladies. Otherwise, it looks like a bloated Mini, which is also a chick's car.

Looks like something stepped on the bug and squashed it. Too bad it didn't twist its foot a couple of times and grind it to death/
UGH!
