There are some powerplant exchanges happening between Volkswagen and Audi such as that between the Golf and Scirocco R20T models that come with a powerplant that will boost the power yield on the Golf to better compete with a 300hp Focus RS and a 250 hp Megane Renault Sport if these already exist.

The German carmaker has been evaluating the Golf and Scirocco R20T versions over at the Nurburgring circuit using a 2.0 liter twin-turbo engine that is expected to produce around 300hp also. Although details in the twin-turbo technology are not yet on hand at this time, it looks like that VW will get on with the 2.0 liter engine it shares with Audi, which is seen in the S3 with 265hp, to a whole new level compared to the present, somewhat mild, 211hp in the Golf GTI and 256hp in the S3.
