just wonder how aston owners feel when they drive behind an XF... probably the same as when jag owners follow a ford taurus...

This seems like a good comeback from Jaguar, just hope it works.

Click on the photo of the Jaguar XF and it will open the photos from the auto show and if you click the Previous button in the upper right you can see a few shots of the front and the XF does not look plain vanilla.

The Jag XF is perfection. The front end is gorgeous in the flesh and will only get more agressive when it's released in XFR spec. This is the new benchmark in this class!

The Aston is pretty mint aswell: )

Hey Jag XFR you keep saying the same thing. yea I sell them but I try to base my opinions on something. Stop drinking the cool aid and say something else. I turned the cool aid down and I still love the car. LOL

Sorry, not! Not much needs to be said about this car, it's brilliant.

Retard (see above)

Just curious...since you're the Jag expert, I'm sure you know x-type and s-type share the Ford Taurus engine block and chasis right?

Double Retard (See above)

The S-type's chassis was developed by both Jaguar and Ford. The S-type is RWD. The Taurus is FWD. You fail. The suspension is Jaguar's. The S-type's V8 is pure Jaguar and was first introduced in the XK8 in 1996. The V6 based on a Ford block but with Jaguar heads and intake. Jaguar's V6 is smooth while the Ford's is noisy and crappy (in early versions). The Lincoln LS actually borrowed more mechanicals from the S-type than the S-type borrowed from Ford. The x-type used a heavily modified version of the Ford Mondeo platform. This car comes standard with AWD in the US. The x-type feels nothing like the Mondeo. That's not to say that the x-type is prefect. It's far from it. Handling was never an issue for this car. It's the lack of power improvements over the years that killed it.

urbansouljah, the bottom line is it shares components with Ford!! A make that is known to rust under a 10 year period with engines literally falling off after 100K. Can it get any sadder than this? Lets face it, why will the S-Type and X-Type be discountinued? Cuz they're not good enough for the price they sell at. Period!! No excuses!!

Just admit that you were wrong. It won't kill you. Have you ever driven the S-type? It gets great reviews for it's chassis. There is very little Ford in the S-type. It's only minor components that are shared to keep costs down. Like I said before, the Lincoln LS is a rebadged Jaguar. Borrowing Jag's V8, suspension and numerous other components.

My friend, I have no problem admitting I'm wrong when I am. My original statement was this,

"I'm sure you know x-type and s-type share the Ford Taurus engine block and chasis right?"

x-type and s-type 3.0L both have Ford block and I believe the x-type and taurus have same chasis except they threw AWD on the jag...perhaps s-type may not have ford taurus chasis but I quite frankly didn't care to do 2 min research on it to confirm so I wasn't 100% correct..does this make u feel better now?

No I did not drive the S-Type but I was driven in it many times and was not impressed (looks wise I hated the ford like green lighting) and let me not start with the sound system...but the Lincoln LS I drove several times and was not impressed in any way. Felt very neutral about it, i did like the styling though, but the owner couldn't wait to get rid of it so I hope you're not bringing it up to show a good example for jag...isn't that car sadly discontinued as well?

All in all, why in the world would I choose this car over a 550i, E550, A6, or even a GS? The concept looked good, but production version is wack and i swear it reminds me of a Ford.

I do wish the best for Jag though, I love the brand...I just think it's currently in the wrong hands.

There is no Ford in the XF's design. I don't see how every car jaguar design no matter how different it is gets compared to some Ford as if it's the in the thing to do. Like I said before, the V6 does not feel anything like the Ford version because the heads and intake are designed by Jaguar. Even the block was modified. No Jaguar is based on the Ford Taurus. The x-type shares it's chassis with the (now) previous generation european Ford Mondeo which is not available in the US. The two cars feel completely different. The Mondeo was voted the best car in europe for years. Most of the parts in the x-type are unique to Jaguar.

Don't get me wrong. The x-type isn't the fastest or the best handling in it's class but it rides well and looks nice even if it's too retro.

Even if this was true (which it isn't), the X-Type and S-Type are Jaguar's most embarrassing products, the worse half of their lineup. Jaguar agrees--the X-Type is being pulled from the American market and THIS right here in front of you is what is replacing the S-Type. It obviously has nothing to do with the Ford Taurus... and it's 20000000000X better than the S-Type.

Urban, I have been fighting this fight for a long time. Stay strong.

By The way I'll settle this. The LS has been on the same chassis since 1998. The STYPE was all completely redone in 2003. So they can't be on the same chassis.

Last time i checked a Jaguar is supposed to be Elegant

How is the front end of this XKR Elegant ?

Compare that to the front end of the Previous Generation XKR and you will see where Ford went wrong with the current Jaguar theme.
