VIDEO: 2009 Audi A4 Avant- Audi Designers Show You Their New Baby
Agent 001 of AutoSpies.com caught this exclusive video in Ibiza, Spain of the designers of the 2009 Audi A4 Avant telling you why it is so special.

Love how the designers call the side crease the 'Tornado Line'!

Never heard that one before!

Well, if BMW can have its 'Hofmeister Kink', then they can have a 'Tornado Line'.  ;)

The A4 should be eliminated and the A6 should be sold at the A4 price. I justify this on the basis of my hatred for market differentiation and the improved economies of scale achieved by combining the two models.

There wouldn't be more economies of scale, they already share many components - but there would be huge menu costs in the changeover, plus the advertising and everything. It wouldn't be worth it. They're probably at the minimum efficient scale already, and further expansion would result in diseconomies of scale.

That would never happen. The A6 is a very important prestige line for Audi and represents huge global sales. Plus, the next A6 will increase in size as the A8 increases in size. It's all part of the strategy as the A3 will receive a sedan version in 2011.

If anything, the A4 should become the A6, because it is approaching the A6 in size but is far better-looking and better to drive.

Gorgeous....easily the best looking wagon in ANY market. I don't know if anyone has "attempted" to use the navigation or control console; it's an absolute pain in the a**. I don't think there's any getting used to it...it's horrendous. The car looks great.

I personally woudn't waste my time with the nav/control console.

we have the A6 allroad with the console and nav options and it is very easy to get use to once you've played around with it. the screen in between speedometer and RPM though is very handy and can do so much - telling you whats playing on your ipod to what suspension setting you're on and if you want to change it, with the touch of a button on your steering wheel.

give it all some time and you'll get use to it. better than iDrive!!!!

The new A4 Avant looks gorgeous. Unfortunately, Audi will not offer this fine machine with the 3.2 liter engine in the United States.

What? Why?

The 3.2 liter engine is seriously down on power when compared to the G35/IS350 etc... Audi's are nice but their non "S" and non "RS" offerings always offer the weakest performance in their class. Audi's engine development is about 4 years behind the other makes in regards to engine output.
