As reported to you by the Spies back in October, the new Audi R8 is truly a wonderful, fast, sexy supercar. Now the German auto maker has taken it up a notch with their V12 TDI concept. Check out the video below for an exclusive look at the new design, and find out what Audi's plans are for diesel engines in the US, and see just why this is one of the Spies' top picks at this year's auto show.

What was that 3..2..1 race game thing on the navigation screen??? Looked like part navigation, part game?

That's the countdown they wired into the car's launch control. Out on the street apparently they give you the 3..2..1, and then BAM, you're off.

Just what 001 said, when you thought the R8 couldn't get any better Audi gives us this. A masterpiece!

I love the look. Hopefully the cosmetic changes will make the regular R8. The Current R8 Owners are bashing the R8 V12 TDI over at Audiworld. They are saying that it looks like a Look at me Honda-type cosmetic changes And prefer the current subtle look. I say that they are fools. If they wanted understatment, why would they get a 2 door mid-engined $100,000+ exotic sports car.

I have to agree with people at AudiWorld... the standard R8 is hardly "understated," but has a purer, sleeker design than this car. This does look a bit tacked-on. However, I am enthralled with the performance/efficiency combo.

I have to disagree with the folks at AudiWorld. LexSucks you are TOTALLY correct. The body work on the R8 V12 TDI adds some badass to it and looks the way I would get it the R8. Street presence in that baby will be greater than the current R8.

As if you needed more "presence" than what the R8 will give you.

If you've read a single article about a drive in the R8 4.2 through a city, you'd see how much attention it gets... WOW. Enough for me, that's for sure.

If you really just want to be seen, get a Lamborghini instead.

S4, that's exactly what happened to me while driving the R8 through downtown San Francisco. Onlookers, lots of head nods, cell phone cameras being held out car windows.... it's definitely a real head-turner.
