You know what one of the worst things about BMW product launches are? The press release. Though I understand the company wants to inform the press and general buying public of its latest and greatest hardware, it seems all-too-often that it loves overdoing it for information's sake. I guess one could say they're being "German."So when the i3 made its way to the 2012 Los Angeles Motor Show, I wasn't surprised to see it was more of the same. Thankfully, BMW wisely produced this two-minute clip that gets all of the important information out of the way. I could do without the absurd voiceover but, hey, beggars can't be choosers. The BMW i3 Concept Coupé is a study for sustainable premium-class motoring with zero local emissions. Beyond this, the three-door model employs the design idiom that has been created especially for the BMW i cars to convey an undeniable sense of dynamism and driving pleasure. The BMW i3 Concept Coupé shows the ongoing development process for getting the first ever all-electric model from the BMW i brand ready for series production.Full Official LA Auto Show Photo GalleryDid YOU check out this year's Black Friday gift guide care of AutoSpies? Such a post title coming from Agent00R?! Wow, maybe there is Santa Claus! ;)Well, after the self-professed 40 years of EV development BMW has a lot at stake with the i3 and the i8 -- important indeed. Hopefully the i3 is not a compliance car only for the California market.— vdiv (View Profile)

I wouldn't say "most important to date", but it will definitely be a more pleasing/enjoyable look at the all-electric vehicle market (that is attainable by a large amount of possible consumers). Where the Prius & Prius line are more "appliance", BMW will add sport-luxury panache along with the legendary brand recognition - and the feeling of being eco-friendly while being fun, youthful as well. There are other sporty electric vehicles out there (Fisker, Tesla, etc); but the BMW will more than likely pull in a larger amount of attention from fans, fanatics, purists, actual customers when their line of electric vehicle production gets up & running.— dumpsty (View Profile)
