At the 2014 New York Auto Show, you may recall that the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 had an all-new family member to introduce to the eagerly awaiting crowd. That would be the coupe's twin that sports a funny hat — the Z06 convertible.

Likely to be the most hardcore 'Vette offered for public consumption, the Z06 typically is the lightweight Corvette that's meant for the track. Though some will argue it shouldn't be a convertible, I don't think it really matters unless you want to have a philosophical debate.

While the last-gen car was known for its hulking, 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, this generation will be equipped with a 6.2-liter, supercharged V8. Though we're not quite sure how it will sound at full tilt, we NOW know how it will sound puttering along thanks to the clip below.

According to reports, the individual behind the wheel is a Chevrolet employee and knew they were being filmed. That's why they didn't "goose it" a bit.
