I have a funny feeling Pruett got one of those Lexus IS-F's for FREE!

nicad, I flat out don't believe you. I just don't think you've driven the new M3.

If they sell the five axis design then the ISF is worth even more than the M3, but if the regular design is compared, well the M3 is much more well developed and much more assured looking. Performance wise both are locked neck to neck, and if Lexus can make the car 5 or 6 grand cheaper than the M3, so that people may spend that money to upgrade to the five axis body upgrade, then the ISF will certainly pose a challenge to the M3; otherwise M3 will remain quite unquestioned in it's perch as the automatic choice of the niche.

Not true, here's a quote from the Top Gear review of the new M3:

"If you're useless, you can drive an M3 fast; if you're brilliant, you'll be able to wring the M3 out and still be impressed. That is a very hard dichotomous trick to pull off, and its one of the few cars that does it successfully."

"i've read it in a few places that the IS-F is easily as good of a racer as the M3- but the difference is that the IS-F is a much better daily driver."

I've actually read exactly the opposite. Please elaborate. In half of the tests the IS-F has been in, there have been complaints of its overly-harsh suspension that's only really useful at the track but painful in everyday driving.

The M3 is a perfect blend. It is a superb daily cruiser and an equally talented track car. Lexus can only do one or the other. The LS460, for example, is nice to drive every day but can't tackle a corner. The IS-F is great on track days but not very enjoyable anywhere else.

"and even as a race car it's much more friendly for the average person. M3 is more for experts, whereas anyone can get into the IS-F and have a great time"

That came straight out of the IS-F developer's mouth... I remember reading the article. The M3 is NOT for experts. It can make anyone a pro driver. That's why it's such a revelation.

He said "I don't just say that because Im a driver for Lexus". At the end of the day everyone is bias and it's all about marketing and makin' money. The opinion I would trust most would be a ridiculously rich guy who owns the IS-F, the M3, an RS4, 911, Enzo, Lambo and a Prius. Now that would be someone without an agenda. lol

true, but truly this guy is heavily motivated to market Lexus cars so he should just talk about the IS-F and not even compare other cars. Its just to obvious.

But then, why are you guys (Lexus fans) taking this so seriously? He WORKS for Lexus. Of COURSE he will say the IS-F is better. It's his job.
