A great race between these 3 great cars. The Modena may not be the quickest in the pack but it sure sounds the best. It still is a great showcasing of great Italian engineering. The Porsche Turbo is a great showing as well with its under-stated looks. IMO it's a super car for the more mainstream buyer because of it's more affordable pricing but still gets a lot of respect on the road. As for the GT-R it's one of the best Japan has to offer in a sports car and it handles great on the turns.

The only difference between the Japanese and Europe is the soul and passion of each sports car they produce. Japanese has great functionality but SOME come short on styling. Europes best combined functionality and styling together to make a great performance package. However neither are bad it's just two different ways of making a car go fast around a track. Stock for Stock hands down the Europeans win but then again the price gap is HUGE so it's almost expected.

Hands down the GTR. A suspension better than the Porsche's, let down only by bureaucratic HP limits engine-wise.
CAn't wait for the new 2008 GTR. At half the price of the 911 turbo, you're getting equal or better engineering without the greed compelled markup. Porsche has ALWAYS been guilty of that.
Am glad I pased of buying the '07 boxster and will wait patiently for Jan'08 for the GTR.
No sweat, my Maxima's running just fine thank you Porsche.
As for Modena- too showy for San Francisco, too much- keep the fake Euro prestige- I don't need it for $200G.

That Skyline had 450hp, not 280. That is 30 more then the Turbo and 50 more then the Modena.

It wouldn't be a fair race then. They were trying to be as close to each other in terms of numbers so it would even be called a race. All 3 of those cars are very fast however the Turbo and the GT-R both handled better on the track also because of the Modena being RWD. However I would still buy that Modena simply because of the howl that the engine produces and it is still a Ferrari. Built with passion and soul. Still major props are given to the two others. Can't go wrong with owning any of these.

You're still a young child with posters of Supra's, NSX's, and GT-R's on your wall.

I bet you have you never sat or driven a Porsche 911. You obviously don't appreciate what Porsche has done with their design. Putting an engine all the way in the back and still maintaining good balance throughout the whole drive yet still producing great numbers 0-60. Porsche IMO is one of the most under rated sport/super car maker.

The GT-R may not be a bad looking car and a bad performing car but you can't just say a 911 was running for his life. The fact of the matter is the GT-R is not in a same league as a Porsche because stock for stock the GT-R only has 280HP due to regulations I believe? so until Japan has changed the limit then you may compare in a race. Class wise it will never be the same. Not that Nissan is bad but give me a break, a business professional driving a Porsche will not give a second look to a GT-R boy racer.

how can anyone say an upgraded gtr is not in the same league of a porsche turbo, which is an upgraded version of the 996, if not the highest, on the same level as the gt3?

the irony of someone calling another preferring the gtr a boy racer still in the trend of japanese cars while not appreciating or recognizing what the capabilities, or quality, of a gtr, especially when comparing costs.

oh, an owner of a 997 turbo will definitely look hesitantly at a gtr, especially a heavily modded one. sure, he can look cool & possibly snicker at wealth, but he knows in his heart he wont be able to beat it. i know i do.

Do you think a guy with professional job will be driving a GT-R to work let alone a 'modded' one?. If a GT-R is not a car for a boy racer it is a car for a lawyer right?

Obviously we're looking at this from a different point of view. I think of owning a car that's classy but still has the performance. I rather get a car that already has the performance and still is an exotic. I've passed the phase of 'modding' cars. All that money spent on modifications I could just get a car in a totally different class. I also don't care about street racing. On the track it's a totally different game. Any car tuned can be fast as hell and I give the GT-R all the credit in the world because I think it's a killer car. However a tuner car is totally different from a car that is stock.

The Porsche Turbo may be an upgraded version of a 996 but it wasn't modified by the buyer. I'm more about getting a car and go. I used to tune cars but now I'm more about the luxury and luxury sport more than anything.

Getting beat in an illegal street race is the last thing a wealthy man will be thinking of. They are probably thinking of what to buy next not what to modify next.

I guess I've past that stage at age 23. I ain't talking down the boy racers but for me a sports car I would purchase is the R8, F430, Gallardo and maybe even the M6 or the SL for more GT type cruising.

actually, i am a lawyer and i would want to get a gtr, if i had an exuberant amount of money & room.

i was once there where i thought i had passed the boy racer stage, but after awhile, one sort of looks past pretention and sees a car as what it is. thats not to say i would get one over a more prestigous brand, but above all that bullshit, the performance & quality speak for themselves.

yes; i still like hondas too.

lets also not forget that here in cali, la or oc, there are a lot of pretigious brands being modified (highly). its relative.

one gets older, one makes more money & one buys more expensive cars, but some things never change. everyone wants to be "unique."
