I remember when the Boxster first made its debut.

The uninitiated and uninformed lambasted the Boxster for not being a "proper Porsche" or, essentially, a 911. What they didn't know is that the vehicle that is its spiritual father is the 550 Spyder, which is arguably one of the greatest vehicles to be born out of Porscheland.

The first-gen product was a 996 wannabe with the "broken egg" headlights and 996-lifted interior. Considering the 996 is the red-headed stepchild of 911s, that's not exactly a good thing. But now that the Boxster has been revised and inspired by the 991, it is really extraordinary.
