For performance lovers of expensive sedans, it's a great time to be alive. Who would have thought that just about every foreign luxury automaker would have a 500 horsepower plus beast in their lineup?
This led EVO Magazine to set them up in a drag race. Although drag races aren't the best way to measure performance, it's one helluva way to display a vehicle's power.
My big beef with EVO's test is that they really didn't do the Porsche justice. While the BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar have over 500 ponies, the Porsche has a lowly 400. Considering the Panamera Turbo exists and the new Panamera Turbo S is on its way -- with 550 horsepower -- EVO sort of screwed Porsche over.
If this is strictly a performance test, this is really not the fair way to issue a "W."
The stats:
BMW M5: 560hp, 501 lb-ft torque from a 4.4-liter V8
Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG (AMG Performance Package): 550hp, 590 lb-ft torque from a 5.5-liter V8
Jaguar XFR: 510hp, 461 lb-ft torque from a 5.0-liter V8
Porsche Panamera S: 400hp, 369 lb-ft torque from a 4.8-liter V8
