Did you check out Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee when he picked up Jay Leno in that Porsche affectionately known as the Gmünd? While I love my cars, I'll tell you I wasn't aware that such a model existed. It was great to see the vehicle and where Porsche really got its start.

Equipped with the most Spartan interior and a hand-pounded metal body, it seems similar to a vintage Ferrari — at least in my eyes. The thing is though it just looked so far ahead of its time. I mean, imagine seeing that coming down your local boulevard in the 1950s. It must have been something.

Now Jeff Zwart, a videographer and well-know Pikes Peak hillclimber, takes a look at the Gmünd, the car that started it all.

Get behind the scenes of a recent photoshoot with a 1949 Porsche Gmünd Coupe. See how Jeff Zwart offers a real life perspective to driving this car in the modern world and why the Gmünd truly represents the beginnings of Porsche.
