wow.

not a vw fan, but still 60mpg. still in a little shock.

even with diesel at 20% more then gas, this is like double the mpg of similar sized cars.

I could make it to fl and back on like 3-4 tanks of diesel. the return of the long haul road trip.

I'm not such a big fan of diesel anymore. The price of diesel here fluctuate greatly locally. We need to make diesel fuel the same price as premium fuel to take full advantage of the benefits of diesel cars.

my thoughts exactly...however brewing your own biodiesel would work (probably would void the warranty)

Took a 3 week vacation several years ago and rented a passat tdi..drove like a bat outa hell on the autobahn..about 125mph fully loaded with suit cases etc...didnt fill up till I had to turn it in...thats 7 years ago.

Where does it say in the actual press release that this car gets the same mileage as before, let alone 60mpg? The note in the first paragraph is simply a baseless comment.

All I see is that they've finally attained the bare minimum to be allowed to sell diesels here again.

ULSD gets a little less mileage than the dirty stuff, so any improvement will more than likely be offset by this.

Wake me up when the Germans decide to burn less oil in a sedan.

That TDI destroys the Prius in Gas mileage and in Co2 release.
Even the current 2.0TDI beats the Prius.
Ironic isn't it?
A diesel cleaner than a Hybrid....

5th Gear did some tests with Bluemotion, the claimed 60-70mpg was not attained, they only got around 40mpg..

Would you like to prove this? The dinky little Polo 3L barely beat the Prius and it had to use a lawnmower motor to do it.
