VW mulls building pickup trucks
In its quest to overtake its main rival Toyota, especially in the lucrative US market, Volkswagen is considering developing new pickup truck models to expand its range. In addition to the new utilities, officials are also planning to develop a “family of small vehicles,” as revealed by CEO Martin Winterkorn during an interview with the Financial Times. Pictured above is a one-off Touareg pickup concept built by Volkswagen Individual. Read Article

Crap! Another car! I am getting sick! We are going to hear how off road worthy this princess is next and how it drove the Rubicon! In reality all manufacturers when they drive the rubicon for bragging rights they bring a road building crew to place rocks on all the difficult parts and after they put all the rocks back. Are you still impressed?

the bed is too small for this to be taken seriously as a truck.

i'm also reminded of past vw pickups. good only as toy trucks.

even toyota has LONG SINCE passed the "toy truck" phase and makes only serious trucks now. from tuff tacomas to beastly tundras.

if vw expects to chase toyota down this road, they'r wasting their time chasing the toyota of 15 years ago.

This size of truck would go down well over here in Europe, then they could introduce a larger model for the US market.

You are just jealous that VW can produce a Phaeton at half the price of an equivalent S-Class.

VW has the highest labor cost in Germany - of ANY maker including MB. The Phaeton would not be such a flop should they price it according to yer comment, EN. In fact, the S-Class pricing is reflected 1:1 in the Phaeton pricing, a gigantic mistake considering VW 's (lack of) heritage in luxury cars.
