The German and the Japanese have teamed up in an effort to reduce gas emissions. Volkswagen and Sanyo have announced that they will collaborate to develop a lithium-ion battery to be used in Volkswagen hybrid and electric cars.
According to Nikkei financial daily, Volkswagen will use the battery in hybrid and electric cars by 2012. Audi will be the first of the Volkswagen group to use the battery when it rolls out a hybrid model next year.
