I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Video: 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLC Sports Coupe in action
While we think the new Mercedes-Benz CLC Sports Coupe is a lot better looking than its predecessor, we’re still not that thrilled about the car.

The CLC Sports Coupe line up will include four 4-cylinder engines and two 6-cylinder engines, without out ranging from a lousy 122hp to a range-topper with 272hp. The car comes with a six-speed manual transmission as standard with an optional 5-speed automatic and a 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission for the V6 models.

Check out this new promo video from Mercedes-Benz to see the CLC in action.

Do you think the people buying a CLC160 care about speed and acceleration? I don't.

I used to own a C160 Sportcoupe and it wasn't slow at all. 0-100 km/h in under 10 seconds and a top speed well over 200 km/h is not slow at all.

Cartman,

Anything over 8 seconds to 60 is slower than death, dont make me laugh. That's pathetic!

I think you are the one who is pathetic if you think 8 seconds is a slow time. 0-100 km/h is such an irrelevant issue anyway. Midrange acceleration is more important and most modern cars perform quite well in this regard.

I'm actually laughing at you for thinking 8 seconds is slow. Perhaps you should live in Europe for some time, because people here don't think such a time is slow at all.

going 60 @ 8 seconds depends on the car.

The people who wrote this article obviously have not driven the "lousy" C160 (now CLC160). There is nothing lousy about this car at all. The power delivery is smooth, the engine is reasonably agile and moreover fuel efficient and the refinement is very good thanks to counter-rotating balance shafts (TwinPulse as we call it).

I used to have a C160 Sportcoupe as a company car and I enjoyed it. It doesn't offer sports car performance but for everyday driving the engine is not short on power at all. The fuel economy is excellent. I averaged 7.1 L / 100 km with mine (automatic too).
