I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Hahaha...looks like the GT3-RS got PWNED by the R8. Like I said before with my other postings, the 997 needs to upgrade their 6 cylinder engines as badly as Acura/Honda needs a V8.

There's just no competition when you have an old box 6 vs. the state of the art V8 and pretty soon V10. Why is Porsche so hard headed? Everyone is moving to V8(AMG C63, M3, RS4, IS-F, CTS V-series) and above and even BMW finally have to make the switch from inline-6 to V8 because they know if they don't make the switch, they're out of the playing field of the others. Porsche still expect people to pay $100K+ for a 6 cylinder vehicle? All those V8 vehicles listed above will run circles around any 997(including the 997 GT2) anytime of the day.

Remember, no replacement for displacment and cylinder counts always prevails.

The 997 GT2 is the fastest production car currently available.

Dont forget about the Nissan GTR. It's using the TT V6, and will run closer to the R8 and GT3 than any of the high powered Lux sedans you mentioned.

EvilHomer, in the end you are just a narcassitic badge-whore with serious self esteem issues.

Your are all douchebags if you choose a f***ing badge over the actual numbers. Grow the f*** up.

got it, so you'd rather have a WRX STi over maybe an M series or AMG? Ya know, since it's just about as fast.

Tool.

Heyhuub, the GT3 RS is certainly not the fastest production car available. That's the Bugatti Veyron. Perhaps you meant it's the fastest around a track...?

I was talking about the GT2, and yes there may be a few that can beat it, but not much.

Bulldogz, you're the tool. Do you put make up on every morning to look pretty with your fashionable car? Most likely.

I agree...

It makes the Porsche look old, and it just may be a perfect sports car.

If I could have two, they would probably be the R8 for my daily driver and a GT3 RS for fun (not that the R8 isn't fun). Maybe a used sedan for taking people out.

If anything that Black Lambo got pwned! Porsche is amazing to engineer a car that should be very unstable into a track worthy star. Of course the driver makes a big diff on the track but that R8 driver made some wide turns and tail whipped a little yet the R8 is great at recovering driver mistakes!

With equal drivers skill the GT3 would not lose the R8 on the track. In a drag yes =)

In a drag, I don't know who would win, actually. The R8 with a manual has been recorded as low as 3.9 sec for a 0-60 run. It couldn't keep up with a 911 Turbo- but probably a GT3.
