Video: AutoCar gets behind the new 220hp Lotus Elise SC

I think the car tested was fully optioned. Remember the Exige has a very short list of standard features which keeps the price down despite its performance, the SC however can be fitted with air-con, stereo system, improved insulation, door trim etc. Which Lotus kindly charges a lot for.

34,000 GBP is the list price in the UK, but that doesn't mean they will just convert it to dollars at today's rate (as suggested by the article) for the U.S. price. Look at the new M3 as an example, which is 50,000GBP and only $55,000 for similar spec. Thank God European car companies all did some good dollar hedges. The US MSRP for this SC Lotus will be $54,500.

FYI, just an observation aka no feelings behind it: This is a Toyota engine with a nice tuning job-Toyota could easily make their own version and charge thousands less--unless they already have. Educate me oh great automotive enthusiasts.

yes Toyota should revive the Celica or Cera name and put this engine in it. That will be a great affordable sports car.
